Salem bin Abdul Rahman Al Qasimi witnesses the start of the 14th session of the Services of the Services of the Elderly

Sharjah, October 2/ WAM/ Sheikh Dr. Salem bin Abdul Rahman Al Qasimi, head of the Office of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, witnessed this morning the activities of the “Services of the Elderly” in its 14th session, under the slogan “A tender renewed and endless leadership” which is organized by the Social Services Department at the Jawaher Center for events and conferences.
The opening ceremony started with the national peace of the United Arab Emirates and then reciting verses of evidence from the wise dhikr, after which the head of the office of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah witnessed a video entitled “An inexhaustible tender” that dealt with the status of the elderly in society, goodness and blessing that people acquire from them, and the need to learn authentic customs and traditions with their sitting, love of giving and helping people.
The opening ceremony witnessed the launch of the “Senior X” platform, a leading platform that celebrates the wisdom of the elderly, their accomplishments and their inspiring trips, and aims to build bridges of communication between generations by highlighting the stories of flexibility, innovation and contribution after the age of sixty, and the platform aspires to become a reference for purposeful dialogue, inspiration and appreciation of the elderly around the world.
Ahmed Nasser Al -Naqbi, Executive Director of the Branches Affairs Sector in the Social Services Department, delivered the opening speech and welcomed at its start to attend the forum, which he described as embodying the vision of the Emirate of Sharjah in empowering the elderly and strengthening their role as a source of experience, inspiration and continuous giving to society.
Al -Naqbi stressed that the sustainability of this forum is a pioneering approach adopted by the Emirate of Sharjah to provide the finest services to the elderly, based on the wise vision and great support from His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, to consolidate the emirate’s position as a global model in building a coherent society that appreciates the elderly and gives them the prestigious position.
The Executive Director of the branch affairs sector in the department praised the cooperation of the various authorities, institutions and teams, and their concerted efforts and work sincerely and dedication through various programs and initiatives that enhance the emirate’s position, indicating that Sharjah is the first Arab city to join the World Organization for the Citizen Cities, in a reflection of the multiple services that benefit the elderly such as free health care and home nursing service, in addition to delivery Medicines, providing physical therapy sessions in homes, and allocating transportation methods that serve them on their daily, social and recreational trips.
It dealt with the efforts of the Social Services Department to develop the skills of the elderly and invest them through a production center to support the owners of handicrafts and integrate them into the labor market in a way that contributes to supporting family income to self -sufficiency, and the initiative of science Noor, which enables the elderly to learn to write and read.
Sheikh Dr. Salem bin Abdul Rahman Al Qasimi attended a dialogue session at the forum titled “Success Stories after Sixty”, in which His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Belhaif Al -Nuaimi, Chairman of the Consultative Council of the Emirate of Sharjah, spoke about the journey of giving, which has extended for many years between government and ministerial work to the Consultative Council, stressing the importance of focusing on the value of the work that enables the person to produce and effectively.
Al -Nuaimi pointed out that poetry is a divine talent and not a science that a person learns and is employed for national, social and other affairs, stressing the importance of investing time and managing it in the right way and distributing it to the benefit of the person, and stressed that Sharjah is a reference for the services of the elderly and provides all amenities for them.
For his part, Khamis bin Salem Al -Suwaidi, advisor to the Office of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, spoke about the importance of adhering to time and respecting it, in addition to discipline in most matters of life such as religious discipline or life discipline and other tasks in life, which is reflected positively on the life of every person, whether during his work or after his retirement with the beginning of a new life.
Al -Suwaidi stressed the necessity of respecting the elderly and learning from them the teachings of the Islamic religion and Emirati customs and traditions, explaining that his request for retirement from work was in the interest of work, as he left his retirement with multiple vacancies for those in the circle, and revealed his overwhelming happiness when seeing the development and progress witnessed by the various departments with the expertise of its employees and the arms of its youth.
Sheikh Dr. Salem bin Abdul Rahman Al -Qasimi honored the winners of the fourth session of the Green Heart Award in its two groups, the old age, the advanced old age and its 4 fields.
Aisha Abdullah Al -Aqab won the first position in the cultural field, and Maryam Hilal Al -Zaabi won the first position in the social field, while Ghanem Obaid Al -Alili came in the first place in the health field, and Moza Ahmed Ibrahim in the first place in the professional field.
The head of the office of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah also honored the participating and supportive parties and members of the work teams and on the sidelines of the forum, visited the accompanying exhibition that highlights the creations of the elderly affiliated with the authentic clubs in the department, and reviewed the artistic, craftsman and home products. It aims to support the sustainability of community participation for the elderly, and to motivate them to continue production and creativity.
Specialists with the support and care of the elderly, from local, regional and international bodies, including social and psychological experts, and representatives of organizations concerned with the elderly, in addition to policymakers and influential people in the field of active aging. The forum reviews leading experiences from different countries of the world, highlighting successful models in societal leadership and institutional excellence showed by the elderly, whose renewable achievements still contribute to developing their societies.
The forum includes two main dialogue sessions, which combine the intellectual and human nature, the first session is titled “Success Stories after Sixty”, and highlights shiny leadership figures who continued their giving after the retirement age, and continued to achieve successes in various fields, while the second session, titled “Positive Aging and Welfare”, and discusses the most prominent concepts and practices that enhance the quality of the life of the elderly, such as health Psychological, community support, independence, and friendly environments for the elderly.
The opening was attended by the head of the Ruler’s Office, His Excellency Abdullah Belhaif Al -Nuaimi, Chairman of the Consultative Council of the Emirate of Sharjah, Khamis bin Salem Al -Suwaidi, advisor to the Office of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, Major General Abdullah Mubarak bin Amer, Commander -in -Chief of Sharjah Police, Ali Ahmed Boughazia, Chairman of the Sharjah Fish Resources Authority, Maryam Majid Al Shamsi, Head of the Social Services Department, and a number of senior officials and guests of the forum and the elderly.
