The Women’s Union reviews "Vision Mother of the Emirates 50:50" At the World Gender Statistics Forum

Abu Dhabi, October 4 / WAM / The United Arab Emirates, represented by the General Women’s Union, participated in the tenth global forum for gender statistics, organized by the United Nations Statistics Division in cooperation with the National Statistics Office in Georgia, during the period from 1 to 3 October 2025 in the capital Tbilisi, with the wide participation of governments, international organizations, civil society, academics and experts.
The delegation of the state, Eng. Ghalia Ali Al -Mannai, the head of strategic and development affairs in the General Women’s Federation, and Mrs. Maryam Mohamed Al -Mansoori, Acting Director of Information Technology Department.
Al -Mannai, during the session of digital transformation and gender statistics, gave a comprehensive presentation on the “Mother of the Emirates Vision 50:50” until 2075, reviewing the Emirati experience and its methodology in monitoring data as a tool to formulate the future of women.
She emphasized that the journey of empowering women in the Emirates started in 1975 with the establishment of the General Women’s Union led by Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak “Mother of the Emirates”, “Mother of the Emirates”, President of the General Women’s Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, Supreme President of the Family Development Foundation; Where efforts were launched from literacy and education, through health care and quality of life, to put essential pillars that rose to the status of women.
She said that the UAE was the first country in the Gulf region to launch a national strategy to empower women, which constituted a comprehensive framework for national policies in this field, pointing to the extension of these efforts, today, to include citizens and residents on the state’s land, to ensure that every woman, whatever her nationality, has the opportunity to grow and improve the quality of her life.
She pointed out that the UAE is currently at 31 global indicators of gender balance, and the first position regionally in the gender gap index of 2025, and the thirteenth place globally, stressing that these achievements came as a fruit of the efforts of the relevant authorities and a clear vision supported by accurate monitoring methodologies, most notably the system of monitoring progress made for women, which was adopted by the Council of Ministers for Development in 2021 with the participation of 155 Power.
Al -Mannai indicated that what distinguishes the Emirati experience in this system is that it not only depends on the official data issued by the authorities, but also goes further to listen to the women themselves through the service “and you have an opinion”, where the voice of institutions meets with the voice of women, so that the numbers turn into a deeper realistic image, and the policies and initiatives become closer to the aspirations of women and believe in meeting their needs.
She emphasized that this integration between data, analysis and real experience makes every step towards empowerment based on evidence and the woman’s direct voice.
It also indicated that the UAE is currently working to strengthen this system using artificial intelligence technologies, giving the ability to anticipate challenges and take proactive steps to address them, so that the system remains a dynamic tool linking vision and practical monitoring mechanisms.
Al -Mannai gave a practical example of how to convert data into policies and initiatives, noting that the system revealed a decrease in the number of women who have agricultural licenses compared to a large number of farms owned by them; It turned out when listening to the owners of farms through the service “and you have an opinion”, that most of them want to start, but they do not know how, and from here the “Snap Sustainability” initiative started with the participation of 17 entities to empower women and enhance their presence in the agricultural sector.
It was also emphasized that the leading international initiatives supporting women launched by the UAE are directly based on accurate data and monitoring results. Among the most prominent of these initiatives: the initiative of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak to empower women in peace and security, and the Arab Observatory for Economic Empowerment of Women, which is the first integrated regional system that brings the stakeholders in the Arab countries to support the growth of women’s business and enhance their participation in the economy.
The forum witnessed a major axes discussing women’s economic empowerment, violence and discrimination issues, gender and climate change, digital transformation, and the role of data in formulating national policies.
The forum is a prominent global platform for exchanging experiences, reviewing best practices, and filling existing gaps with innovative evidence -based solutions.
The Emirati participation in this global event reflects the state’s commitment to continuing its leadership role in formulating the international agenda of women, and consolidating its position as a global model that combines future vision with precise monitoring mechanisms, in order to draw a more comprehensive and sustainable future for women until 2075 and beyond.
