The Center for Arab Studies in the Portuguese Cuimbra and the Arab Cultural Institute in Milan are enhancing the Arabic language in Europe

Kewibra- Portugal on October 5 / WAM / His Excellency Ahmed bin Rakad Al-Amiri, CEO of Sharjah Books Authority, said that the launch of the Center for Arab Studies at the Portuguese University of Keimbra, which was opened by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, is the culmination of his vision of His Highness in making the Arabic language and its culture, represents an authentic part of the global academic and cultural scene.

He added in a statement to the Emirates News Agency “WAM” that the opening of the Arab Cultural Institute in Milan also constituted a leading starting point to enhance literature and the Arabic language in the heart of Europe, and that the Keimbra Center came to complete this march to establish a cognitive and cultural network linking Sharjah institutions in the major intellectual capitals, and provides a platform for academic education, cultural dialogue and cultural innovation.

He said that the Sharjah Book Authority will lead with the support and directives of Sheikha Badour Bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Authority’s Board of Directors, the center’s programs and activities, including cultural events, workshops, translation and literary exchange initiatives, explaining that the center’s work plan focuses on building a solid international partnership network, enhancing research cooperation and expanding the cultural impact of Sharjah globally, to be a bridge for mutual understanding and a model To see Sharjah and the United Arab Emirates in spreading culture and knowledge at the global level.

For his part, Dr. Wael Farouk, Director of the Arab Cultural Institute in the Italian Milan, Professor of Language and Literature at the University of the Catholic Catholic Heart, stressed the importance of the Center for Arab Studies at the Portuguese University of Cuimbra and the Arab Cultural Institute in the Italian city of Milan, because they constitute basic points within an ambitious project led by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and with the follow -up of Sheikha Bakr Bint Al Qasimi, To put the Arabic language in the ranks of the influential major international languages, pointing out that all countries of the world possess cultural centers that take care of their culture and open the door of their language to peoples.

He pointed out in a statement to “WAM”, that the Arabic language was lacking until last year, to such centers, until His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah decided to build this bridge between the Arabic language and the peoples that you did not speak, so the birth of the cultural institute in Milan, then the Center for Arab Studies in the Portuguese Keimbra, which increases the dialogue and communication based on the facts of civilization and culture and starts from the pure Arab identity.

He explained that the Center for Arab Studies at the University of Keimbra has the importance of superiority over the Cultural Institute in Milan; As the center is located in an ancient international university that extends for centuries and serves students of 100 different nationalities, and therefore it will be more open to multiple and different cultures and not only on Portuguese, as well as this university lacks a program to teach the Arabic language, which means that the center will represent the first window to teach the Arabic language regularly in it.

He pointed out that the Arab Cultural Institute in Milan, and the Center for Arab Studies at the University of Portuguese Keimbra, is an introduction to the establishment of a series of institutes for Arab culture in the capitals of knowledge and creativity, with the aim of providing bridges of communication and dialogue and enhancing cultural relations between Arab and Western civilization, and showing the size of the Arabs’ contribution to the human scientific and creative product, all of which will be within one network interconnected under the auspices of the Sharjah Book Authority.

On the most important achievements that the Arab Cultural Institute has achieved in Milan a year after its opening, Farouk said that he attracted within one year thousands of students and those who wish to learn the Arabic language, explaining that its role is not limited to organizing and hosting cultural events and seminars, but rather exceeds the provision of Arab cultural service to those who need it, indicating in this regard to the signing of a cooperation agreement between the institute and the Italian Ministry of Justice to teach a number of language officers Arabic, and the introduction of Arab and Islamic culture, in addition to agreeing with a secondary school for teaching Arabic; Where a number of classrooms have already been opened in this field.

He pointed out that the institute signed an agreement with the Italian Ministry of Tourism, to teach workers in the field of hotel and tourism, especially in the northern regions, the Arabic language in order to receive Arab tourists and respect their cultural privacy, in addition to cooperation with many French thinkers and others.

He referred to the institute’s cooperation with the King Salman International Complex for Arabic, in participation alongside other Italian universities in competitions in Arabic calligraphy, throwing Arabic poetry and writing the Arabic article, in which a number of students of the institute won, as well as the establishment of a club for Arab cinema, and another for Arabic reading, noting that the institute’s activities include besides that, follow the effects of Arab culture in Italy, which contributed to the discovery of 300 Arab currencies from Islamic ages Different in a museum in one of the Italian castles, where a professor specialized in old Arab currencies has been assigned to study the history of these currencies, and a book on the journey of these currencies will soon be issued to Italy.
