The UAE launches a strategic cooperation with Google that provides university students free access to Gemini

The UAE government announced a strategic cooperation with Google, allowing university students in the country free access to the paid version of Gemini, one of the most prominent advanced generative artificial intelligence tools, as part of the country’s efforts to build an advanced talent system in the field of artificial intelligence, and to enable students to use the latest technologies in line with the goals of the country’s strategy for artificial intelligence.
Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, the Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications, Omar Sultan Al Olama, confirmed that the UAE, under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, “may God protect him,” and the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, “may God protect him,” adopts investing in people, and providing talent and society with artificial intelligence tools as a priority to achieve global leadership, by harnessing intelligence. Artificial technology helps develop skills, build capabilities, raise efficiency, and accelerate the pace of innovation in various sectors.
He said that the UAE government has developed a clear future vision centered on empowering society with technology and artificial intelligence, through building and developing global and strategic partnerships, to create an environment conducive to learning and leadership, in a way that supports efforts to double goals, accelerate achievement, and consolidate the UAE’s position as a global model in employing technology to serve societies.
For his part, Anthony Nakash, Executive General Manager at Google in the Middle East and North Africa, confirmed the widespread demand from society across the UAE for topics related to artificial intelligence and education, as Google search indicators show a 110% increase in searches for topics of artificial intelligence and study in the country during the past two months compared to last year.
Anthony pointed out that this noticeable increase indicates an increase in the interest of students and teachers in experimenting with modern technologies, stressing the importance of strategic cooperation with the UAE government to enable all university students across the country to benefit from the latest models and features on the Gemini application, and to support creativity in their educational journey.
Quick access to the most advanced Gemini models
With the aim of enabling students to benefit from generative artificial intelligence techniques in their educational journey, university students in the country will be able to access the Gemini 2.5 Pro model, the most advanced model, and use it to generate content, texts, images and video clips with sound and provide advanced methods to enhance research and support specialized reports with in-depth information, in addition to a storage capacity of up to 2. terabyte.
The free offer also includes the ability to organize students’ work through the NotebookLM tool, providing five times more audio and visual summaries, simplifying daily tasks and enhancing writing.
All university students in the Emirates who are over the age of 18 can register before December 9 of this year, by entering university data and personal email, to obtain a free subscription for a full year starting from the date of registration.
