المملكة: Saudi Arabia calls for enhancing international burden-sharing and intensifying humanitarian efforts
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia affirmed its principles and firm humanitarian positions towards Refugees and the international humanitarian response.
This came in a statement delivered by the Kingdom’s permanent representative to The United Nationsand international organizations in Geneva, Ambassador Abdul Mohsen Bin Khathaila, during the meeting of the Executive Committee (76) of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees
Ambassador Bin Khathaila explained that the Kingdom continues its firm commitment to the principles of international protection and burden sharing, noting that the Kingdom has continued its generous contributions despite global economic challenges, which reflects its continued keenness to support efforts International Humanitarian Affairs.
He pointed out that the Kingdom attaches great importance to the interconnected approach between humanitarian and development work, based on its belief that sustainable solutions require, in addition to the humanitarian response, development efforts that address the root causes of displacement.
Intensifying humanitarian efforts
He also pointed out that the Kingdom adopts an approach in its foreign policy An integrated approach that combines addressing the causes of displacement through mediation and conflict resolution with providing humanitarian and development assistance to enhance resilience, stressing the need to effectively involve countries hosting refugees in decision-making and policy formulation processes, especially those related to humanitarian funding, to ensure a more just and effective response.
In a related context, Ambassador Bin Khathila called for intensifying efforts. To respond to the humanitarian needs in Sudan and alleviate the suffering of civilians. He also reaffirmed the Kingdom’s commitment to supporting international efforts aimed at immediately ending the war on Gaza, and reaching a comprehensive agreement that guarantees the delivery of humanitarian aid without restrictions and prevents the displacement of the Palestinian people.
The Kingdom’s permanent representative to the United Nations and international organizations concluded the statement, emphasizing the Kingdom’s continued support for Syria. To confront economic and development challenges and support efforts for the safe and voluntary return of Syrian refugees.
