America will be part of the peacekeeping operation in Gaza

US President Donald Trump said that his country “will be part of the peacekeeping operation in Gaza.”

In an interview with Fox News, he confirmed that Arab countries in the Middle East would contribute to the reconstruction of the Strip, which “will become a safer place,” as he put it.

Trump indicated that countries “possessing great wealth” would participate in the reconstruction efforts.

He added that Washington “will help make the process successful and maintain peace.”

The US President explained that the process of rebuilding Gaza would be a first step within a “broader peace vision” in the region, noting that Iran “may be part of this process in the future.”

Regarding the humanitarian file, Trump announced that the hostages held in Gaza will likely be released next Monday, saying: “I believe that the hostages will return on Monday, including those who died.”

Trump’s statement comes hours after he announced a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, which he described as a “historic breakthrough” toward long-term stability in the Middle East.
