Jordan: Cairo Water Week is a global platform for enhancing water security and regional cooperation

Engineer Raed Abu Al-Saud, Jordanian Minister of Water and Irrigation, is heading a high-level delegation, especially since Jordan holds the presidency of the Arab Ministerial Water Council, in the activities of the eighth Cairo Water Week, whose activities begin on October 12 for five days, under the slogan “Innovative Solutions for Climate Resilience and Water Sustainability,” and in the presence of an intense international presence of experts, decision-makers, innovators and industry leaders. Under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic.

Omar Salama, the official spokesman for the Jordanian Ministry of Water, said in exclusive statements to the Middle East News Agency correspondent in Amman that Cairo Water Week represents a leading scientific and dialogue platform that brings together officials, experts and decision-makers from various countries of the world to exchange experiences and enhance cooperation in order to achieve water security and sustainable development globally.

He explained that Jordan’s participation comes in light of The major water challenges facing the Kingdom, as the annual per capita share of water is less than 60 cubic metres, making Jordan one of the countries most suffering from water poverty in the world. Salama added that the Jordanian delegation will present during the conference the Jordanian experience in confronting these challenges and turning them into opportunities by strengthening national efforts, using modern technologies, and the role of citizens in protecting water resources, in addition to presenting Jordan’s vision for integrated Arab water management, enhancing the efforts of the various Arab sectors, and creating correct and sustainable management practices.

He pointed out that the conference provides the delegation with an opportunity to cooperate and exchange experiences with the participating countries, and present plans. Public executive and recommendations related to water management, with a focus on benefiting from non-traditional resources, especially treated water, as Jordan uses about 98% of treated water in the areas of industry and agriculture according to the highest international standards.

He pointed out that the events include displaying the latest technologies to enhance sustainable solutions for water resources, and holding specialized workshops and seminars, while highlighting the close relationship between water, energy and food. And the environment, and exploring the latest research on the impact of climate change and seasonal fluctuations on water resources.

The participation of Minister Raed Abu Al-Saud and the Jordanian delegation in the events reflects Jordan’s commitment to actively participate in Arab and international platforms to enhance water security and sustainable development. This participation also highlights the pioneering Jordanian experience in confronting water scarcity and transforming challenges into opportunities through innovation and the use of modern technologies.
