"Sharjah International Book 2025" It brings together 118 countries and offers more than 1,200 events

Sharjah, 9 October / WAM / The Sharjah Book Authority, during a press conference held today at its headquarters, revealed the details of the 44th edition of the Sharjah International Book Fair, which will be held from 5 to 16 November at the Expo Center Sharjah under the slogan “Between You and the Book.”

The exhibition brings together 118 countries from around the world in one place, represented by more than 2,350 publishers and exhibitors presenting millions of titles and works in various languages ​​of the world. It hosts more than 250 creators, writers and thinkers from 66 Arab and foreign countries presenting more than 1,200 cultural, creative and artistic events.

The exhibition is organized by the Sharjah Book Authority and includes a number of new events for this year. Visitors will have an encounter with the “Pop Up” Social Media Academy, which holds 24 interactive sessions led by influencers and experts in literature, media, art, and technology, and the “Poetry Pharmacy” store to provide “poetry recipes” dedicated to visitors, in addition to the audio talk station “Podcast,” which hosts famous Arabic programs from the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. And Oman.

This year, the exhibition gives its visitors the opportunity to travel to the Greek Republic and learn about its history, the beauty of its arts and architecture, and what it has historically provided for human thought and philosophy, as it celebrates Greece as the guest of honor for its 44th edition, hosting 58 Greek publishing houses and cultural institutions and presenting a diverse cultural program in which an elite group of the most prominent writers, poets, translators and playwrights participate.

The exhibition offers lovers of mystery literature a unique experience, as it hosts the fourth edition of the “Thriller and Suspense Festival” during the period from November 8 to 11, with the participation of an elite group of writers and specialists in mystery and crime literature. The festival provides the exhibition’s audience with the opportunity to delve into the worlds of suspenseful narrative through dialogue sessions and interactive workshops that reveal the secrets of building plot and suspense in contemporary literature.

The press conference was attended by His Excellency Ahmed bin Rakkad Al Ameri, CEO of the Authority, His Excellency Panagiotis Kogiou, Chargé d’Affaires of the Greek Embassy, ​​Muhammad Hassan Khalaf, Director General of the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority, Muhammad Al Amimi, Acting Director General – Northern Emirates of E&Emirates, Khawla Al Majini, General Coordinator of the Sharjah International Book Fair, and Mansour Al Hassani, Director of the Publishing Services Department at the Sharjah Book Authority, along with a group of journalists. And media representatives.

His Excellency Ahmed bin Rakad Al Ameri confirmed that the 44th edition of the Sharjah International Book Fair will be launched under the slogan “Between You and the Book” to celebrate the state of interaction between the reader and the word when the book turns into a mirror in which the reader sees himself and finds in every new reading a different image of himself.

He said that the Sharjah International Book Fair stands every year as a witness to the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, who stressed that the book is the broadest space in which cultures and civilizations meet and exchange knowledge and experiences. Today, its project continues with a renewed vision under the leadership of Her Highness Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Sharjah Book Authority, who has undertaken the task of strengthening Sharjah’s position as a center. Globally, to create knowledge and launch initiatives that support the presence of Arabic books on the international scene.

Muhammad Hassan Khalaf said: We are proud of our media partnership with the Sharjah Book Authority and to convey the bright voice and image of this great cultural event to the world. The Authority was and continues to be a strategic partner of the Sharjah Cultural Project through its constant commitment to documenting the emirate’s cultural achievement and highlighting its various activities. Mohammed Al Amimi said that “E&Emirates” seeks to empower communities by providing the latest digital solutions and innovative technologies, and we see our sponsorship of this exhibition as an extension of our responsibility towards society and in support of initiatives that contribute to disseminating knowledge and consolidating the UAE’s position as an incubator of culture and creativity.

The cultural program of the exhibition witnesses 300 events, with the participation of 66 international guests from 19 countries and 62 Arab guests from 20 countries, in addition to 30 Emirati speakers who enrich the cultural scene with their experiences and creativity. The cultural program hosts speakers from 10 countries participating for the first time: Iceland, Jamaica, Nigeria, Mali, Chad, Angola, Mozambique, Guinea, Senegal and Vietnam.

The exhibition’s activities this year include 15 events subject to pre-registration in Arabic and English, including: “TV Series Screenwriting Course” presented by: Muhammad Suleiman Abdul Malik, “The Art of Writing Novel and Short Stories” course presented by Abdul Wahab Al-Rifai, “Unleash Your Creative Potential and Contemplate Your Legacy – A Creative Writing Workshop” presented by international novelist Dr. Nguyen Van Quy Mai, and “From the Draft” workshop. The Final to a Published Book – The Editor’s Role in the Publishing Process” by literary editor Sangeeta Mehta and the workshop “What Do Translators Really Do?” “The Art of Literary Translation” presented by Emory University professor Lisa Dillman.

As part of the exhibition’s endeavor to expand the circle of cultural and cognitive influence through innovative methods, the Social Media Academy “PopUp” comes to be an interactive platform that combines learning, inspiration and entertainment through 24 sessions led by influencers and experts in the fields of literature, media, art and technology.

During the activities of the Sharjah International Book Fair, the 12th edition of the Sharjah International Library Conference will be launched during the period from November 8 to 10, organized by the Sharjah Book Authority and in cooperation with the American Library Association (ALA). The conference attracts more than 400 participants from academic, public, school, governmental and private librarians from various countries of the world.
