"Victory" He leads the sprint race in the China Tour of the World Championship for"Formula1"
ZINZHOU, 11 October, 2017 (WAM) – The Victory team excelled in the third round of the Formula 1 World Speedboat Championship, held in the Chinese city of Zinzhou, after successfully topping the speed races and qualifying rounds, before competing in the main race tomorrow, Sunday, with the participation of the most prominent teams in the world.
Contestant Alec Wickstrom, aboard the Victory 3 boat, won first place in the Sprint race, ahead of Rusty White from the Sharjah team, who came in second, and Peter Morin from the China team, in third place.
His colleague Sean Torrenti, aboard the Victory 4 boat, also won second place in the first speed race, behind Swede Jonas Andersson from the Swedish team, while Grant Trask from the same team came third.
Based on the results of the two speed races, Andersson (Sweden) moved to the top of the overall season standings with 50 points, followed by Wikstrom (Victory 3) and Rusty White (Sharjah) in second place with 46 points each, while Torrenti (Victory 4) ranked fourth with 44 points.
The qualifying rounds resulted in Jonas Andersson starting first in the main race, followed by Alec Wikstrom from second place, Stefan Arand from the Sharjah team third, and Sean Torrenti from fourth place, while Grant Trask started fifth, Rusty White sixth, and Eric Stark from the Abu Dhabi team tenth.
Ahmed Al Sumaiti, Director of the Sports Teams Department at the Dubai International Marine Sports Club, confirmed that the results achieved by the Victory team reflect the high readiness and strong desire to compete for the first places.
He added that these positive results increase enthusiasm and confidence before the main race, and enhance the team’s aspirations to continue the strong performance and remain in the competition for season titles.
