Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan Cultural Center organizes a lecture on mental health in the age of artificial intelligence

Al Ain, October 12 / WAM / The Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan Cultural Center, in cooperation with the Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan Society for Future Generations, organized a lecture entitled “Mental Health in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: Opportunities and Challenges”, presented by Dr. Mohammed Al Ahbabi, coinciding with “World Mental Health Day”, as part of the activities of the “With You, for Mental Health” program and the Health and Psychological Awareness Program, which aim to raise awareness of mental health. And their disorders, and they are implemented in cooperation with an elite group of specialized mental health doctors, national cadres, and regional expertise.

In her speech at the beginning of the lecture, Sheikha Dr. Shamma bint Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan Cultural and Educational Institutions, stressed the importance of the “With You for Mental Health” initiative, which was launched on October 10, 2023 to coincide with World Mental Health Day, based on the importance of maintaining the highest levels of psychological energy, reaching the minimum means that a person is on the verge of internal extinction.

She said that mental health is not a luxury, but a necessity for life, and that it is not merely the absence of illness, but rather a “permanent charge of a person’s internal battery,” explaining that being psychologically healthy means that a person is aware of his energy level, and knows well how to recharge yourself again through rest, walking, communicating with nature, and spending an honest moment with those he loves.

She pointed out that these matters are “profound keys to balance and tranquility,” calling for contemplation of the lives of the ancestors who found tranquility and harmony in nature, stressing that the matter does not stop with the individual, but rather extends to the entire society.

Sheikha Dr. Shamma bint Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan said: “When individuals enjoy good mental health, they become more capable of positive communication, violent behaviors decrease, and social cohesion flourishes. Thus, mental health transforms from an individual matter into a pillar of societal security,” citing the statement of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him: “The approach to citizen happiness and care will remain.” The foundation of all our plans for the future,” which represents a profound vision that confirms that human happiness, including psychological health, is the basis of development and renaissance.

She called for “acknowledging psychological fatigue and seeking help when needed,” stressing that this does not represent weakness, but rather strength, awareness, and courage.

For his part, Dr. Muhammad Al-Ahbabi discussed in-depth detail the uses of artificial intelligence in the field of mental health, reviewing the latest developments and updates witnessed by this sector.

Dr. Al-Ahbabi discussed the challenges, potential risks, and ethical and future dimensions, stressing that artificial intelligence poses great challenges and opportunities for the digital therapeutic approach, which requires continuous evaluation and development of mental health services based on it.
