The International Judo Federation approves 14 weights in the Abu Dhabi Championship "Grand slam"

ABU DHABI, 12 October / WAM / The International Judo Federation has approved 14 weights for the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Championship, in its 11th edition, which is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Al Ain region.
The organizing committee confirmed in a statement today that the championship competitions, which are one of the qualifying stations for the 2028 Olympics, will start from next November 27 to 30, at the Mubadala Arena, with bouts in the light weights under 48, 52, and 57 for women, and under 60 and 66 kg for men.
It also includes competitions for “light middleweight” under 63 and 70 kg for women, and 73 and 81 kg for men, heavyweight for under and over 78 kg for women, under and over 90 kg, and under and over 100 kg for men.
The draw for the tournament will take place next Thursday, November 27, in preparation for the start of the events the next day, with registration procedures currently continuing for countries wishing to participate in the new edition.
His Excellency Mohammed bin Thaloub Al-Darai, President of the Federation and Chairman of the Supreme Organizing Committee, stressed the importance of making the arrangements required by the existing committees, in a way that contributes to providing the requirements for success for the tournament, to enhance the sustainability of excellence in past editions of the tournament, which received great appreciation from the International Federation.
