A women’s volunteer team succeeded in making a tangible impact on the reality of Street animals, contributing with his own efforts over five years to reducing their mortality rates by rescuing, treating, and sheltering more than 5,000 stray and sick animals.

Team member Zainab Al-Hamoud told Al-Youm: “We started this journey in 2021, and we are continuing until now out of purely personal motivation, as we focused on Treating animals that cannot live with their diseases and need urgent human intervention to save their lives.”
She added that the team’s efforts resulted in the care of more than 5,000 animals, 80% of which were cats.
Al-Hamoud highlighted the health challenges facing cats in particular, explaining that viral diseases such as “herpes” “Calci” has become common and deadly.
She attributed the reason for its spread to the phenomenon of abandonment of domestic cats, saying: “Shirazi cats that are thrown in the street, and although they may be vaccinated, they are often carriers of viruses and spread them among unvaccinated municipal cats, which leads to the death of large numbers of them.”
Rescue Field
Regarding the team’s work mechanism, Al-Hamoud explained that their efforts are not limited to providing food, but rather extend to direct therapeutic intervention.
She said: “We take critical cases to private veterinary clinics cooperating with us, where we take care of their treatment and vaccination, and then we return them to a safe environment that guarantees them a new chance at life.”
She pointed out that stray dogs face a different challenge, which is often extreme hunger, while diseases and accidents remain the greatest danger to cats.
The team’s role did not stop at field rescue, but rather extended to providing support and guidance to animal keepers, as the team contributes to directing them towards appropriate and less expensive veterinary clinics, and overcoming the difficulties they may face in caring for them. Their animals.
Al-Hamoud concluded her speech with a poignant message to the community, saying: “We urge everyone, young and old, to be kind to animals. We want to be their voice, as animals cannot speak, and caring for them is a great reward.”
