After his plan in Gaza, Zelensky calls on Trump to increase pressure on Putin

The Ukrainian president called Volodymyr Zelensky His American counterpart Donald Trump to put more pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the war in Ukraine.

He was asked Zelensky in the program "Meet the Press" On a channel "nbc"whether Trump to be tougher with Putin after he presented a plan for a ceasefire in Gaza, and he responded in English "Yes, and even more so, because Putin is in a similar situation, but stronger than Hamas"

He added: "It is a broader war, and it is the second largest army in the world, and for this reason, the pressure must be increased"

Trump’s visit to America failed.

The interview was broadcast after Zelensky returned from a trip to Washington during which he failed to obtain long-range Tomahawk missiles.

Zelensky met with Trump at the White House after he had demanded obtaining Tomahawk missiles for weeks, hoping to take advantage of the American president’s growing frustration with Putin after the failure of the Alaska summit to achieve a breakthrough regarding stopping the war in Ukraine.

But the Ukrainian president returned empty-handed, at a time when Trump is seeking to achieve a new diplomatic breakthrough after the ceasefire agreement in Gaza last week.

Trump-Putin talks

In his interview, Zelensky also called for his inclusion in the upcoming talks in Budapest planned between Trump and Putin.

Zelensky said: "If we truly want to achieve a just and lasting peace, we need both sides of this tragedy".

He added "Yes, it is occupied, but Ukraine is suffering and fighting"and stressed the need to include the Ukrainians in any deal that includes them.

Trump refused

But in an interview broadcast Sunday shortly after Zelensky’s interview, Trump again indicated that he was not ready to deliver Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine.

Trump said in a program on Fox. "We also need it, and we cannot give all our weapons to Ukraine"

Moscow has intensified its attacks on Ukrainian civilian infrastructure in recent weeks, depriving thousands of heat and lighting as the cold winter approaches.
