Abramovich plans to invest in Galatasaray

According to media reports, Russian businessman Roman Abramovich, former owner of the English football club Chelsea, may become a shareholder in a Turkish club.

A newspaper said,Spor BülteniAbramovich is planning to invest in Galatasaray FC and could become one of its largest shareholders.

It was also reported that the Russian businessman bought a palace in Istanbul and is preparing to move to Türkiye.

Abramovich acquired Chelsea in 2003 for about $187 million. In May 2022, it was announced that the club was sold to a consortium led by American businessman Todd Pauley for $4.5 billion.

Under Abramovich’s leadership, the London club won the Premier League title five times, five FA Cup titles, three League Cups, two FA Shield titles, the Champions League, and the Europa League, in addition to the European Super Cup and the Club World Cup.

It is noteworthy that Galatasaray Club holds the record for the number of times it has won the Turkish Football League Champion title with 25 titles, and is also the record holder for the number of times it has won the Turkish Cup (19 times) and the European Super Cup (17 times), and was crowned once with the European Union Cup in 2000.
