The third Al Dhafra Camel Racing Festival begins its activities with Al Haqayeq competitions

Al Dhafra, 22 October / WAM / The third edition of the Al Dhafra Camel Racing Festival, organized by the Emirates Camel Racing Federation, will begin tomorrow, Thursday, over the course of 4 days, at the camel racing field in Madinat Zayed.
The festival is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Al Dhafra Region, and includes 107 rounds in the categories of facts, stories and broadcasting.
The organizing committee announced in a statement today that the camels are competing for 24 symbols, with 8 symbols for each category, in addition to in-kind and cash prizes for the winners allocated by the organizing committee, amid a great demand for participation from camel owners in the country.
The Facts category competitions open the festival’s rounds, with 24 rounds in the morning for a distance of 3 km, and the winner of each round gets 30,000 dirhams, in addition to financial prizes up to tenth place.
The evening period will witness 10 rounds, including 4 symbols in the main rounds for the first rounds, the open seats and the production, and the financial prizes for the winners range between 500 and 400 thousand dirhams.
The second day includes 17 rounds for the Haqayeq category in the evening, during which the participating mounts compete for 4 tokens for the Cup, the Bakr Rifle, the Open Seat and the Production, while the Laqaya category competitions will be held next Saturday for 22 rounds in the morning period, and 8 rounds for the tokens in the evening period.
The festival will conclude on October 26th with competitions in the broadcasting category, with mounts running over 18 rounds in the morning period, and 8 rounds for symbols in the evening period, with 4 symbols for the firstborn, open seated and local ones, and 4 others for the symbols of the production category.
