Al Dhafra Municipality is implementing the development and rehabilitation of Sheikha Salama Bint Butti Road in Madinat Zayed

Al Dhafra, 23 October / WAM / The Al Dhafra Region Municipality is implementing the project to rehabilitate and develop Sheikha Salama Bint Butti Road in Madinat Zayed, in response to the rapid urban growth and major activities taking place in the region, such as the Liwa International Festival and the Al Dhafra Camel Parade Festival, as part of its continuous endeavor to enhance infrastructure and improve the quality of life in the Al Dhafra region.

The project aims to increase the road’s carrying capacity and improve the level of traffic safety, in addition to enhancing environmental sustainability and raising the efficiency of asset and public facilities management, in line with the emirate’s vision of achieving more vibrant, attractive and sustainable cities.

The project includes the addition of a new 10-kilometre lane extending from the Al Dhafra Ranches Interchange to the Baynunah Educational Complex Interchange, with the cancellation of two light intersections at Al Dhafra Forest and Zabeel Streets to improve the flow of traffic. Acceleration and deceleration lanes were also added along the road, while the entrances and exits to the new Madinat Zayed Bus Station were developed to provide priority for public transportation and ensure pedestrian safety.

A smart traffic signal system will be adopted, aiming to regulate traffic flow and reduce waiting times, in line with the trend towards smart and sustainable infrastructure.

The project also includes the construction of a traffic light intersection in front of the main Al Dhafra Municipality building to serve the industrial area, which contributes to connecting the commercial district and Al Dhafra Ranches to the public park and facilitating movement in all directions.

These improvements enhance the city’s urban integration and act as a catalyst for economic growth by serving major commercial centers and encouraging environmentally friendly means of transportation.

The Al Dhafra Region Municipality confirmed that the implementation of the project comes within its efforts to achieve the highest standards of environmental sustainability by applying the best international practices in preserving natural resources and reducing energy consumption, which reflects its commitment to the future vision of sustainable urban life.
