Tunisia – The United Nations launches a new peacebuilding initiative

The Peacebuilding Fund supports joint international responses that link the pillars of development, humanitarian work, human rights, and peacebuilding. All of its funding comes voluntarily from member states.
At the daily press conference in New York, UN Deputy Spokesman Farhan Haq said that the initiative will be implemented by the Food and Agriculture Organization, the United Nations Development Program and UNICEF, in partnership with the Tunisian government.
He added that the project will enhance “Inclusive and participatory local water management” In the regions of Gafsa and Kairouan during the next two years, which are severely affected by water scarcity caused by climate change, “With a special focus on the participation of women and youth.”
