Digital school and"Education" In Iraqi Kurdistan, they launch the initiative of 10,000 digital teachers

Dubai, October 26 / WAM / The Digital School, one of the initiatives of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives Foundation, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education in the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq, launched an initiative to qualify and build the capabilities of 10,000 digital teachers, with the aim of empowering male and female teachers in the region with modern digital education skills, through an advanced training program organized in cooperation with Arizona State University in the United States.

The initiative establishes a new phase of strategic cooperation between the digital school and the Ministry of Education in the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq, and builds on the success of the first phase, which was implemented with the support of Dubai Cares, and witnessed the training and graduation of 2,400 certified digital teachers, laying the foundation for expansion towards training ten thousand teachers, which embodies the joint commitment to improving the quality of education, promoting educational innovation, and raising the readiness of the educational system to the requirements of… A future based on technology and knowledge.

His Excellency Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Digital School, stressed that building the digital capabilities of teachers represents a major direction for the Digital School initiatives, which aim to support societies with future learning models that enable students to acquire knowledge and benefit from the capabilities that technology provides in accessing learning sources and solutions.

He said that the partnership with the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq represents a model of cooperation for sustainable and innovative education, and an important step in the process of building a generation of digital teachers capable of integrating technology, creativity, and critical thinking in education, which enhances the leadership of the education model in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

For his part, His Excellency Alan Hama Salih, Minister of Education in the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq, praised the digital school’s initiatives, its keenness to build teachers’ capabilities in the fields of digital education, and its ability to reach students and teachers anywhere.

He said that the importance of the digital school lies in the flexibility of its work model and its ability to transcend geographical and time boundaries and language difficulties, which makes training an effective tool for developing skills, updating training content quickly, and providing an interactive and personal learning environment for the trainee, in addition to enhancing self-learning and digital skills among trainees.

The initiative seeks to build the capabilities of teachers and enhance digital education in the region, and is organized within the Global Academy for the Digital Teacher affiliated with the Digital School, which focuses on developing digital competencies and promoting innovative teaching methods, to enable teachers to lead modern classrooms that enrich students’ learning experiences.

The academy offers its training programs in Kurdish, Arabic and English, to expand the scope of participation and ensure inclusion, so that all teachers can benefit from world-class educational resources and obtain international accreditations from Arizona State University. The program is distinguished by its high flexibility that takes into account the circumstances of teachers working in the field, and provides incentive packages to the most distinguished teachers, as they will be honored within the framework of supporting positive competition and professional excellence.

The Global Academy for the Digital Teacher represents a pioneering global initiative for teacher development, launched by the Digital School, and enjoys the support of the Knowledge Exchange Office in the UAE government, and international accreditation from Arizona State University in the United States.

The Academy aims to enable teachers to use technology effectively, promote interactive learning, and support innovation in the classroom, in a way that supports achieving the fourth goal of the Sustainable Development Goals (equitable and comprehensive quality education for all), while the Academy provides high-quality training programs in seven languages: Arabic, English, French, Kurdish, Portuguese, Spanish, and Indonesian.

The “Digital School”, which was launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, in November 2020, within the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives Foundation, is the first accredited digital school of its kind, and aims to empower students with digital learning options, while providing a qualitative option for blended and distance learning, in a smart and flexible way, targeting societal groups. The less fortunate, refugees and displaced people around the world, by employing digital education and providing modern educational curricula.

The digital school adopts a comprehensive approach to digital transformation in education, which is based on expanding educational opportunities through digital learning options, and continues to expand, as more than 750,000 students have benefited from it, and it has trained more than 23,000 digital teachers.
