Dubai Museum of Art DUMA…a civilized addition to the Emirati cultural scene

Dubai, October 26 / WAM / The Dubai Art Museum, DUMA, is considered a cultural addition to the cultural scene in the UAE.

In light of the great development witnessed by the cultural sector in the Emirate of Dubai, and inspired by the vision of the wise leadership and the great care it gives to cultural work as a main pillar of development and prosperity, the launch of the Dubai Art Museum DUMA was unveiled yesterday, in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, where His Highness was briefed on the creative design presented by the Japanese engineer. Tadao Ando, an international artist, linking the authenticity of Emirati culture with modern art.
The museum is being implemented by the Al-Futtaim Group on the banks of Dubai Creek, in an inspiring model of integration between the roles of the government and private sectors in presenting projects and initiatives that enrich the cultural work system in Dubai and contribute to enhancing Dubai’s position as a global center for culture and creativity.
The museum’s design was inspired by nature, combining water, sky, wind and light in its elements. Its design was in the form of a three-dimensional curved shell housing a circular pearl-shaped exhibition hall.

The museum consists of 5 floors, the first and second of which include 4 exhibition halls, and the third floor includes a restaurant and a VIP lounge, in addition to two ground and basement floors. It also includes a group of integrated service facilities, and outdoor areas that contain restaurants, cafes, and spaces for practicing drawing and arts.

The design of the museum took into account the cultural and educational dimension, including a library and study halls. It aims to organize educational programs in which world-class training is provided, which contributes to supplying the creative and cultural scene with more promising talents.

The museum hosts multidisciplinary exhibitions, as part of educational events and programs aimed at enhancing public participation and appreciation of art, and will display local artworks at the events, providing a platform that supports emerging artists and enhances the opportunities for their work to appear. The museum will be an opportunity to open up to global creative output, inspired by Dubai’s spirit of openness to the world, as it will include a collection of modern artworks, carefully selected from around the world, while the exhibitions and events that will be organized in the museum will provide a variety of experiences for visitors.
The museum carries an artistic and cultural message that confirms Dubai’s status as a global bridge that connects cultures and celebrates talents from different parts of the world.

The museum will constitute a global platform for emerging and talented artists and a source of inspiration for visitors with unique artistic and human experiences, strengthening cultural ties and opening new horizons for knowledge exchange.
Tadao Ando, ​​who designed the museum, is considered one of the five most important designers in the world, and his history is filled with many prestigious awards, including the Pritzker Architecture Prize, which is the largest and most important in the field of architecture in the world, and is often referred to as the Nobel Prize for Architecture. Among his most important designs are the Chichu Art Museum in Japan and the La Bourse des Commerce Museum in Paris. And the Fort Worth Museum of Modern Art in Texas, USA.
