Al Dhafra Dates Festival and Auction attracts more than 87 thousand visitors

Al Dhafra, 27 October / WAM / Al Dhafra Dates Festival and Auction, which was held from October 17 to 26 in Madinat Zayed in the Al Dhafra region, attracted more than 87,000 visitors over the course of its days, and its various competitions recorded 1,146 participants, while it received more than 54 tons of luxury Emirati dates, representing more than 100 items, as part of the auction activities and date auctions and packaging.
Auction sales exceeded 3 million dirhams, with sales exceeding 41,000 kilograms distributed over 13,675 boxes. The highest value for one box of dates reached 3,000 dirhams for the Al Khunaizi variety, which reflects the increasing demand for the national product and the quality of Emirati dates in the local markets.
The festival received wide praise from visitors and participants, and achieved a qualitative success that confirms its position as one of the most prominent heritage and economic platforms in the UAE and the region, combining originality and innovation in the palm and date sector.
Rashid Al Rumaithi, Project Director of the Al Dhafra Dates Festival and Auction, confirmed that the fourth session represented a qualitative leap in the level of participation, organization and public demand, noting that the results achieved reflect the support of the wise leadership and the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority’s keenness to develop the palm and date sector.
He added: We are proud of the results and outcomes achieved this year, which embody the integration of efforts between the work teams, farmers and exhibitors, and reflect the depth of Emirati society’s connection to its agricultural heritage and national identity. Today, Al Dhafra has become a global destination that celebrates the palm tree as a symbol of giving and goodness.
The date decoration and packaging competitions witnessed the participation of 260 contestants and received more than 13,000 kilograms of dates, while the honey competition attracted more than 562 kilograms of produce from the participants, who numbered 281 contestants.
The artistic competitions were also distinguished by the participation of 245 artists in the drawing competition, 200 photographers in the photography award, in addition to 160 participants in the “Yola Slogan” event, which embodied community interaction and youth creativity in an authentic heritage atmosphere.
