Roses and chocolate become reality

Egyptian artist Zeina surprised her fans by revealing that she had suffered a serious injury to her knee while filming one of the scenes of her new series “Rose and Chocolate,” after she posted on her Instagram account a video clip documenting the moment she fell to the ground during filming, in a dramatic scene that turned completely realistic before the eyes of the work team.

According to a source behind the scenes of the series, Zeina felt severe knee pain immediately after she fell, which required her to be transferred to a nearby hospital, where she underwent tests and x-rays that revealed a crack in the knee bones, which required urgent medical intervention and complete rest for several weeks.

Despite the treating doctor’s confirmation of the necessity of rest for a full month, the source indicated that Zeina refused to stop working, as the filming schedule is stressful and the electronic platform that will display the work has set a deadline that cannot be postponed.

Zeina’s injury caused filming to stop for only a few days, but she soon returned to the work site while holding on to herself, determined to complete her full role despite the doctors’ warnings, so as not to disrupt her colleagues or cause a delay in the show. The source said: “Zeina was filming while she was really in pain, but she did not want anyone to know the extent of her real pain.”

It is noteworthy that the series “Rose and Chocolate” is inspired by real events that preoccupied Egyptian public opinion, and stars Mohamed Farrag, Safaa Al-Toukhi, Maha Nassar, Murad Makram, and Bassam Ragab. It is written by Mohamed Rajaa and directed by Mohamed Al-Adl.

Its events revolve around Marwa, a brilliant media personality and famous program presenter, who raises controversy with her boldness in addressing shocking social issues. During one of the episodes, she gets to know lawyer Salah, a mysterious man who carries great secrets in his past, and a tense love story begins between them, torn apart by contradictions between the heart and the mind. As time passes, Marwa receives a severe shock when Salah decides to leave her and return to his family, thus beginning a painful journey in search of the truth amidst intertwined conflicts.

Thus, Zeina transformed in “Rose and Chocolate” from an actress playing the role of a woman who challenges reality, to a woman facing real pain behind the camera, in an experience that reaffirmed her passion for art, no matter the cost.
