Strategic partnership between "Dubai Culture" And Expo City Dubai to enrich the local cultural scene

Dubai, 27 October / WAM / Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairwoman of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, confirmed that the Emirate of Dubai has enhanced its cultural attractiveness and global competitiveness in the cultural and creative sector, thanks to its unique approach and qualitative initiatives, and the components it possesses that have made it one of the best cities in the world to live, work and visit, and a destination for organizing and hosting the most important international events.
This came during Her Highness signing a strategic partnership between the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority and Expo City Dubai, which aims to enrich the emirate’s cultural and artistic scene, in line with Dubai’s visions and aspirations aimed at consolidating its position as a hub for talent and a global center for the creative economy, in addition to expanding the horizons of joint cooperation between the two sides to provide innovative experiences and initiatives that reflect Dubai’s leadership and enhance its presence on the international scene.
The strategic partnership, which was signed on behalf of Expo City Dubai by Her Excellency Reem Al Hashemi, Minister of State for International Cooperation and CEO of the Dubai Expo City Authority, contributes to supporting the success of the 27th General Conference of the International Council of Museums (ICOM Dubai 2025), which is scheduled to be held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, “may God protect him.” The emirate is hosting it for the first time in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia region, from November 11 to 17, 2025, where on November 12, the Dome of Al Wasl Square will witness the opening ceremony of “ICOM Dubai 2025” in the presence of more than 4,000 international delegates.

Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, accompanied by Her Excellency Reem Al Hashemi, was briefed on the most important projects and initiatives that will be implemented under the umbrella of this partnership, starting with the creative aspects of the opening ceremony of “ICOM Dubai 2025” and the “mini-forest” project in “Terra” in Expo City Dubai, which will form part of the legacy of “ICOM Dubai 2025.” It embodies its values and principles of sustainability.

The design of the forest was inspired by the “Miyawaki Methodology” developed by Japanese botanist Dr. Akira Miyawaki, with the aim of urban reforestation and restoration of the natural environment, by focusing on planting diverse types of local trees, which contributes to reviving natural ecosystems, enhancing biodiversity, and accelerating the process of greening cities.
In addition, Her Highness, Chairwoman of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, participated with a group of children in planting the first seedlings of the “miniature forest,” which represents a green space that includes a dense forest of local plants, including Sidr, Samar, Ghaf, and Arak “miswak” trees, which are distinguished by their ability to grow in hot climates and contribute to the preservation of lands, as the forest symbolizes reconnecting with the natural and cultural roots. For the UAE.
It is noteworthy that the strategic partnership comes within the framework of ongoing cooperation between Dubai Culture and Expo City Dubai, to enhance Dubai’s position as a global center for creativity and innovation. In conjunction with the “ICOM Dubai 2025” activities, the public will also have a date with the second edition of the “Dhi Dubai Art Festival”, which will be held from November 12 to 18 in Expo City Dubai, and highlights a group of the most prominent Emirati artists representing three different generations, in addition to the opening of the “Art House”, which constitutes a vital space for artists, curators and art collectors from the UAE and the region, and also represents an open platform.
