On this day, November 29, 2024, the distinguished artist Hassan Youssef Hassan died. He was born on April 14, 1934 in the Sayyida Zeinab neighborhood. He is an Egyptian actor. He acted and directed many films, where he graduated from the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts. He also studied at the Faculty of Commerce in 1955, and after that he worked as an artistic supervisor in the school theater of the Banha Educational District, and in the National Theater he was discovered by the artist “Hussein Riad.” He was presented as a new face in the movie “I Am Free.” Starring Lubna Abdel Aziz in 1959 and playing the role of her cousin.
He became famous in the 1960s for his “bad boy” roles. He turned to directing in the 1970s, where he directed several films, some of which he acted in, most of which co-starred with his wife Shams Al-Baroudi. Among those films were those that were objected to by the censorship of artistic works, such as the film The Coward and Love.
He presented many films. Films that have a distinctive mark on the history of Egyptian cinema, such as " There is a man in our house, " Midaq Alley" ," Woman on the sidelines"," “Mother of the Bride.” He also presented many distinguished series, including “Mother of the Bride.” Layali Al-Hilmiyya”, “Muhammad is the Messenger of God”, ” One Thousand and One Nights. As for plays, he presented “A Thousand and One Nights.” The Story of the West Side"," “Give and Take”, he also directed several films, including ” Cats and quails" “Tears Without Sins.”
At the beginning of his artistic career, the artist Hassan Youssef married the artist Lebleba in 1964. Their marriage lasted 8 years and they separated in 1972. Then, in 1972, he married the artist Shams Al-Baroudi, and his marriage continued until his death.
He retired from acting in 1990, and his last film was “The Two Sisters”… Then he returned in the year 2002 to Art in Advance, his most important and successful television work, which is the series " Imam of preachers " In which he embodied the autobiography of the late Imam Sheikh Muhammad Metwally Al-Shaarawi, after which he was content with participating in television series and dramas.
In January 2024, he confirmed his retirement from acting as a result of the death of his son by drowning in 2023. Until he passed away on October 29, 2024, at the age of 90.
