Controversial update: Microsoft Teams begins tracking employee locations

Microsoft intends to launch a controversial new update to its Teams application next December, enabling organizations to know whether an employee is working from his office at the company headquarters or from anywhere else.
The update, according to what was announced by the Microsoft 365 roadmap, automatically determines the work location once the employee connects to his organization’s wireless Internet, and detects any future changes in the work location once he connects to any other wireless Internet network.
The company said that the new update is “disabled by default,” but system administrators in organizations can enable it if they wish.
She added that the update includes Windows and Mac systems, and is still under development
