The Fujairah Children’s Book Fair witnesses the arrival of large numbers of students and teachers

Fujairah, 29 October / WAM / The Fujairah Children’s Book Fair, in its second session, which is organized by the Office of His Highness the Crown Prince of Fujairah in cooperation with the Fujairah Culture and Media Authority at the Exhibition Center in Dibba Al-Fujairah, witnessed on its fourth day the influx of 1,800 students and teachers from schools in the Emirate of Fujairah, who attended some of the workshops and toured the various pavilions of the exhibition, enjoying the educational and cultural activities it offers.
A number of officials, visitors, those interested in writing for children, publishing houses, and exhibitors emphasized the importance of the exhibition in establishing a culture of reading among children, enhancing their knowledge, and contributing to the discovery and development of their creative talents, as it is one of the most important cultural platforms that contribute to building a reading and cultured generation that possesses the ability to think critically and express consciously through the books it displays and the workshops, story sessions, and multicultural topics it presents.
Dr. Ali bin Tamim, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Center, confirmed that the Fujairah Children’s Book Fair is progressing steadily in its focus on the child and the book directed to him, pointing out that this approach reflects an aspiration towards a reading and creative generation that will advance research and writing in the future, and that reading represents the best way to achieve the exhibition’s slogan “One Society… Many Stories”, thus strengthening the connection with society in the Year of Society, pointing to the importance of launching a children’s writing award as a motivating step to consolidate the culture of reading and develop creativity in new generations.
He added that this awareness of the importance of reading to children and its impact on building the future is not strange to Fujairah, which has paid great attention to this aspect through its cultural initiatives such as the House of Philosophy, the House of Arabic Poetry, and others, stressing that caring for children and encouraging them to read is only achieved through motivation, provision of books, and continuous communication with families, and this is what we witnessed in the second session of the exhibition, which showed remarkable growth and development.
During his visit to the exhibition, Ibrahim Ali Khadem, Director of the Media Licensing Department at the Emirates Media Council, stressed the Council’s keenness to support local exhibitions, praising the cultural and educational role played by children’s book exhibitions, noting the importance of children’s books in building values and instilling concepts of patriotism and belonging in emerging generations, as children constitute an investment in the future and strengthen the pillars of Emirati identity.
Khaled Mohammed Al Nuaimi, Director General of the Federal Youth Foundation, appreciated the idea of organizing the Fujairah Children’s Book Fair, which embodies the interest of the Emirate of Fujairah in reading and developing cultural awareness among young people, noting that the exhibition reflects the emirate’s keenness to strengthen national identity and consolidate children’s culture by supporting initiatives that encourage a love of books and knowledge from a young age.
Sahar Naja Mahfouz, a writer specializing in children’s stories, praised the organization of the Fujairah Children’s Book Fair, which gave participating publishing houses from outside the country the opportunity to learn about the various cultural interests of the Emirates, stressing that this type of exhibition represents an important platform for promoting children’s culture and encouraging reading and creative activities.
While the Emirati painter and writer, Dr. Abdullah Al Sharhan, founder of Ajyal Publishing House, stressed the necessity of rebuilding the child’s relationship with books in light of the growing challenge with games and digital devices, and this is what the Fujairah Exhibition seeks to achieve, which is concerned with publishers and increasing the awareness of children and their families about the importance of reading.
