"Sharjah Book" Strengthening bridges of cooperation with Egyptian publishers and cultural institutions "Cairo Book 2026"

Sharjah, 31 January / WAM / The Sharjah Book Authority is participating in the 57th session of the Cairo International Book Fair 2026, which continues until next February 3, through an official pavilion that reflects Sharjah’s cultural weight and its integrated knowledge project in supporting the publishing industry and introduces its initiatives and programs in the field of books and the knowledge industry, in a way that enhances the emirate’s position as an effective regional center in developing the publishing system and the Arab cultural movement.
The exhibition, which is organized by the Egyptian General Book Authority, affiliated with the Ministry of Culture, at the Egypt International Exhibition Center, is one of the oldest and largest book fairs in the Arab world and the most popular, as it annually attracts more than two million visitors from readers, publishers, and intellectuals, making it a pivotal platform for cultural exchange and Arab and international intellectual dialogue.
The Sharjah Book Authority’s pavilion witnessed a large turnout from Arab and international publishing houses, in addition to the presence of a number of cultural icons and official officials.
In this context, His Excellency Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, Prime Minister of Egypt, visited the pavilion and met with the authority’s delegation headed by His Excellency Ahmed bin Rakkad Al Ameri, CEO of the Sharjah Book Authority, who presented to His Excellency a copy of the book of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, “Collections of History,” with a special dedication to His Excellency the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, in addition to a special dedication of the book to His Excellency the Prime Minister and His Excellency the Egyptian Minister of Culture.
Al Ameri also presented to the Egyptian Prime Minister a copy of the book of Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of the Sharjah Book Authority, “Tell Her She is Here,” with a special dedication to His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and his wife, embodying the depth of cultural relations that unite Sharjah and the Arab Republic of Egypt.
His Excellency Ahmed bin Rakad Al Ameri said that the Authority’s participation in the Cairo International Book Fair is a translation of the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, which stems from the belief in the role of books in consolidating cultural dialogue and enhancing knowledge partnerships, especially since the exhibition is an important station in consolidating communication with Egyptian publishers and cultural institutions, as Egyptian knowledge makers represent one of the pillars of participation in the Sharjah International Book Fair, which reflects the depth of the Egyptian cultural presence and its pivotal role in the Arab scene.
Al-Amiri expressed his deep appreciation for the visit of His Excellency Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, Prime Minister of Egypt, to the Sharjah Book Authority’s pavilion, considering that this visit represents a clear indication of the status enjoyed by culture and books in the Arab Republic of Egypt and the official interest in supporting the publishing industry and enhancing its role in cultural and knowledge development.
His Excellency said that our meeting with officials, symbols of knowledge and knowledge makers in Egypt reflects the direction led by Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Sharjah Book Authority, towards strengthening Arab partnerships in the publishing sector and consolidating Sharjah’s position as an effective platform for global cultural exchange.
The Sharjah Book Authority’s pavilion formed an integrated platform to highlight the cultural experience of the Emirate of Sharjah as a development model based on investing in knowledge and building people.
The Authority’s participation focused on enhancing communication with Arab and international publishers, intellectuals, and cultural institutions, and supporting prospects for cooperation in the fields of authorship, translation, and distribution, in a way that contributes to developing the Arab publishing system and expanding the network of cross-border cultural partnerships, based on Sharjah’s vision of making the book a tool for dialogue and convergence between cultures.
The current session of the Cairo International Book Fair is considered the largest in its history, with 1,457 publishing houses representing 83 countries participating, with a total of more than 6,637 exhibitors from all over the world. The cultural and intellectual program includes about 400 cultural events and more than 100 signing ceremonies, in addition to various artistic events that continue throughout the days of the exhibition.
