German Schott advances to "Top 10" In the Race to Dubai Golf

Dubai, February 2, 2017 (WAM) – German Freddy Schott joined the “Top 10” list in the “Race to Dubai” classification issued today, after winning his first title on the “DB World” golf tour, following his victory in the “Bapco Energies Bahrain” Championship, which concluded yesterday, and was held within the “International Series” tournaments this season.
Shoot’s coronation came in the third edition of the Bahrain Championship, after a strong competition with the participation of 138 players from 28 countries, with a total prize money of $2.75 million.
Schut, 24, won the title after defeating Scot Callum Hill and American Patrick Reed in two playoff rounds, after they were equal with a score of 17 shots under par at the end of the last round. The German player finished the four rounds with scores of 65, 67, 70 and 69.
Thanks to this victory, Schott earned 585 points, advancing more than 100 places and occupying ninth place in the “Race to Dubai” classification with a total of 638 points. He also received a financial prize of 484 thousand US dollars, in his 91st participation in the tour championships, and his second in this championship, achieving his first titles on the “DB World” tour.
This victory represents the 73rd victory for German players in the history of the tour, and the first since Nikolai von won the Austrian Open title in June 2025.
Callum Hill benefited from finishing second after being eliminated in the second playoff round, advancing to 16th place in the rankings with 371 points.
As for Patrick Reed, who was eliminated from the first playoff round, he maintained second place in the “Race to Dubai” after increasing his score to 1,674 points, benefiting from his coronation last week of the “Hero Dubai Desert Classic” title, the first tournament of the season in the Rolex Series of Elite Championships.
The Bahrain Championship is the third in the “International Series”, which includes 7 tournaments held in five countries across two continents, after it started in the UAE, and continues in Qatar, Kenya and South Africa.
According to the calendar of the new “Race to Dubai” season, no less than 42 tournaments will be held in 25 countries around the world, with the UAE hosting the final qualifiers, where the best 70 players qualify for the Abu Dhabi Championship at Yas Links during the period from 5 to 8 November 2026, then the best 50 players to the DB World Tour Championship at Jumeirah Estates Golf Club during the period from 12 to 15 November. 2026.
