المملكة: One million students in a competition "Statistical knowledge" To enhance analysis and data skills

Revealed The General Authority for Statistics announced the participation of more than one million male and female students from Public Education Sector in the Statistical Knowledge, which comes within a pioneering national program that aims to enhance statistical culture among middle and high school students in various regions of the Kingdom, and to enable them to become familiar with the basic concepts in statistics and data sciences.
The Authority explained that the participation rate of female students reached 64.5% compared to 35.5% for male students, which reflects a broad interaction of girls in various educational departments.
Indicators also showed that secondary school students constituted the largest percentage of participants. At 54.6%, while the participation rate of middle school students reached 45.4%.
Riyadh is in first place
With regard to the educational departments with the highest participation, the General Administration of Education in the Riyadh region came in first place with a rate of 21.3%, followed by the Jeddah Governorate Education Department with a rate of 19.2%, then the Makkah Region Education Department with a rate of 16.3%.
The program aims to enable students to develop Research and analysis skills and conscious dealing with various data sources, which contributes to preparing a generation that possesses the knowledge and skills necessary to obtain accurate information from reliable sources, and interact positively with internal and external knowledge platforms with awareness and high efficiency.
This program comes within the framework of the strategic partnership between the General Authority for Statistics and the Ministry of Education, with the aim of raising the level of statistical awareness among students, training them to apply statistical concepts in their daily lives, and developing critical thinking and quantitative analysis skills, in a way that enhances their readiness for future educational stages, and the study of scientific disciplines that Required by the labor market in light of the accelerating digital transformation and the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
Innovative interactive educational activities
The program includes innovative interactive educational activities designed in a simplified style appropriate to the target age groups, to connect students with the concepts of data and statistics and their uses in daily life, through an educational competition that combines theoretical knowledge and practical application.
Its activities continue for 10 days, from Sunday, October 19, until Thursday, 30 October.
The program also includes enrichment activities within schools, including investing in school radio to provide introductory segments about statistical work and its role in social and economic development.
In addition to field visits by a number of leaders and employees of the General Authority for Statistics to schools, to provide workshops and applied programs that enhance students’ skills in statistical analysis and representation, and link them directly to modern fields of statistics.
The program is a qualitative step within the Authority’s efforts to build a society aware of statistics and data, capable of analyzing societal phenomena and dealing with information. Objectively and accurately, which enhances the quality of national knowledge and supports data-based decision-making.
