The Dubai International Library and Publishing Summit was launched at the Mohammed bin Rashid Library, with global participation

Dubai, October 30 / WAM / The second session of the Dubai International Library and Publishing Summit 2025 was launched today at the Mohammed bin Rashid Library, under the slogan “The Future of the Publishing Industry”, which continues until next November 1, with the participation of 80 speakers from 20 countries.
The opening was attended by His Excellency Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, Director General of the Prime Minister’s Office, and His Excellency Mohammed Ahmed Al Murr, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Library Foundation, along with members of the Board of Directors, and an elite group of senior officials, speakers, and interested parties from around the world.
His Excellency Omar Sultan Al Olama emphasized that the industrial revolution that the world has witnessed throughout the ages, whether it was the first that our ancestors experienced, or the second, third, or fourth that we are currently experiencing, dates back to the beginning of printing in the year 1455, stressing that the UAE believes that every new tool carries challenges, but on the other hand, it represents a system of new, unprecedented, promising opportunities.
His Excellency said that the UAE does not wait for the future, but rather creates it, and only sees opportunities in the future. Let us confidently move forward with a clear vision inspired by our wise leadership, which believes that empowering society is the key to prosperity and progress. He pointed out that His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Chairman of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Dubai, last year launched an ambitious project to train a million people in artificial intelligence skills, in a step that embodies the UAE’s commitment to building a future based on empowerment. Providing its youth with knowledge and ensuring that they keep pace with rapid global developments in the field of artificial intelligence.
His Excellency pointed out the importance of important knowledge conferences, such as the Dubai International Library and Publishing Summit, in light of the major transformations that the world is witnessing today, which do not threaten traditional performance or business, but rather enhance and complement them, which requires launching meaningful global dialogues and open brainstorming with the pioneers of this vital sector, to consolidate the necessary knowledge to ensure staying at the forefront of these fields and answering the questions posed by rapid technological development, the most important of which are the major questions about ethics and responsible, correct and wrong uses to ensure maximum benefit from this. Technologies for everyone.
For his part, His Excellency Mohammed Ahmed Al Murr, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Library Foundation, said in his speech: We meet today to anticipate the future of the publishing industry in light of rapid transformations that are reshaping the way content is produced, distributed and consumed, amid global aspirations towards more comprehensive, sustainable and influential knowledge. 
His Excellency pointed out that the global publishing market, which reached $151 billion in 2024, is on track to grow to reach $192 billion by 2030, while the digital publishing sector is witnessing a qualitative leap from $230 billion to $448 billion during the same period, which reflects the acceleration of reliance on technology and innovation as basic pillars of the content industry.
He added that the UAE is investing confidently in people and knowledge, as the size of the local publishing market is expected to rise from $260 million to $650 million by 2030, in a clear indication of the country’s commitment to building a knowledge economy based on creativity and innovation. He explained that the Mohammed bin Rashid Library embodies this trend by being a global intellectual platform that brings together content makers, publishers, and creators, supports civilizational dialogue, enhances understanding between cultures, and contributes to developing the infrastructure of the publishing and library industry across the world. Regional and international levels.
His Excellency pointed out that the summit highlights the most prominent transformations affecting the sector, such as artificial intelligence, digital transformation, sustainable publishing, and the role of translation as a bridge of communication between peoples. His Excellency concluded by stressing that the future of publishing will not be built in isolation from cooperation, but rather through integrated efforts between cultural, educational and creative institutions, considering that this summit represents a qualitative step towards formulating a common vision for a more vibrant publishing industry, capable of facing challenges and creating opportunities at the same time.
The summit discusses several main topics, including: innovation, technology, transformation, book arts, the global publishing scene, translation, purposeful publishing, and the art of writing, with the participation of major international publishing houses such as: Penguin Random House, Simon & Schuster, and HarperCollins. It also highlights the digital transformation in the publishing industry, and its balance between traditional and digital publishing, with special attention to applied workshops that develop the skills of writers and publishers in the fields of translation, editing, and printing, and enhance the concepts of sustainability and ethical practices in this vital sector.
