Abdullah bin Zayed and the Indian Foreign Minister chair the work of the joint committee and the strategic dialogue between the two countries

ABU DHABI, 15 December / WAM / His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and His Excellency Dr. Subramaniam Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs of the Republic of India, chaired the work of the sixteenth session of the Joint Committee, and the strategic dialogue in its fifth session between the United Arab Emirates and the Republic of India, in the capital, Abu Dhabi.
The holding of this session comes at an advanced stage of the partnership between the two countries, constituting an important milestone in the path of bilateral relations, and reflects the level of progress they have reached, in light of the broad participation of senior ministers and officials from both sides, and the clear indications it carries of the depth of the joint political commitment to strengthening the partnership between the two countries in various political, economic, cultural and educational fields.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the progress achieved within the framework of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, which contributed significantly to enhancing the path of bilateral trade towards achieving the common goal of 100 billion US dollars.
The two sides also welcomed the remarkable development in the areas of digital financial integration, including the link between the Indian payments system (UPI) and the UAE’s AANI platform, and interoperability between the Rupay and Gewan cards, which are steps that will enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and expand the scope of financial inclusion to the benefit of companies, workers, students and tourists.
The two sides stressed the pivotal role of education in supporting the path of bilateral cooperation, as the establishment of the Gandhi-Zayed Center for Peace, Tolerance and Sustainability Studies is an important step to build a sustainable knowledge base that consolidates cultural understanding and academic exchange between the two countries.
In this context, the two sides reviewed the progress made at the Indian Institute of Technology – Delhi (IITD) Abu Dhabi, praising the tangible achievements achieved within a short period of time, and stressing that the establishment and operation of a prestigious academic institution in Abu Dhabi represents a qualitative achievement that reflects the two countries’ commitment to academic excellence.
In his speech, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan praised the rapid growth in UAE-Indian relations, stressing that the joint committee and the strategic dialogue constitute an effective platform for translating the directives of the leadership of the two countries into practical results that contribute to supporting the process of common prosperity.
The meeting concluded with the signing of the official minutes of the sixteenth session of the Joint Committee.
The UAE delegation participating in the strategic dialogue included Her Excellency Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State for International Cooperation, His Excellency Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, His Excellency Dr. Ahmed bin Abdullah Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of Sports, His Excellency Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Foreign Trade, His Excellency Ahmed bin Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of Health and Community Protection, and His Excellency Dr. Abdul Rahman bin Abdul Manan Al Awar, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation and Minister of Education. Acting Higher Education and Scientific Research, His Excellency Mohammed bin Hassan Al Suwaidi, Minister of Investment, His Excellency Omar bin Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, the Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications, His Excellency Mohammed bin Mubarak bin Fadel Al Mazrouei, Minister of State for Defense Affairs, His Excellency Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, Minister of State, His Excellency Saeed bin Mubarak Rashid Al Hajri, Minister of State, His Excellency Khalid Al-Ammi Al Tamimi, Governor of the UAE Central Bank, and His Excellency Dr. Abdel Nasser Al Shaali, UAE Ambassador to the Republic of India.
