The First Lady of Korea: Exhibition"Tributaries and visions" It reflects the depth of the cultural partnership between the UAE and Korea

SEOUL, December 16, 2017 (WAM) – The First Lady of the Republic of Korea, Kim Hye-young, affirmed that the “Trivitoids and Visions” exhibition reflects the depth of the growing cultural relations between the United Arab Emirates and the Republic of Korea, and embodies the path of the special strategic partnership that brings together the two countries, noting that organizing joint cultural exhibitions comes as an extension of the recent visit she made to the Emirates, and contributed to enhancing cultural rapprochement and cultural exchange between the two peoples.

She added that the joint cultural show presented by Korean artists at the Presidential Palace constituted a solid symbolic moment that expressed the strength of cultural ties between the two countries, expressing her deep gratitude for the warm reception and sincere care she received during her visit to the UAE.

She also expressed her thanks to His Excellency Sheikh Salem bin Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of Culture, for his kind invitation to attend the exhibition, stressing that the event constitutes an important platform for enhancing mutual understanding and raising cultural cooperation to a more mature and sustainable level.

This came during the opening of the “Trivories and Visions” exhibition yesterday, which is being held for the first time at the Seoul Museum of Art in the Republic of Korea and East Asia, as part of the Abu Dhabi Festival Abroad program, and in partnership between the Abu Dhabi Group for Culture and Arts and the Seoul Museum of Art (SeMA).

The exhibition was opened by His Excellency Sheikh Salem bin Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of Culture, while a number of leading figures from both sides attended the opening, including His Excellency Choi Hwi-yong, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Korea, His Excellency Abdullah Saif Al Nuaimi, Ambassador of the UAE to the Republic of Korea, His Excellency Choi Eunjo, Director General of the Seoul Museum of Art, His Excellency Kim Tae-gyun, Deputy Mayor of the City of Seoul, and His Excellency Hoda Ibrahim Al Khamis, founder of the Abu Dhabi Culture Group. and Arts, founder and artistic director of the Abu Dhabi Festival.

His Excellency Sheikh Salem bin Khalid Al Qasimi said that the opening of the “Trivories and Visions” exhibition embodies the vision of the UAE to build bridges of international cooperation and deepen cultural ties with friendly countries, in a way that serves the exchange of artists’ experiences and the joint development of resources in the cultural and creative industries sector, and enhances the Emirati presence globally through the largest exhibition of its kind in Korea and East Asia, with the participation of 47 artists from the UAE representing five decades of artistic creativity.

He added that the strategic partnership with the Abu Dhabi Group for Culture and Arts reflects a joint commitment to enabling the renaissance of the cultural scene in the Emirates and presenting a culture that inspires the world, by supporting the Abu Dhabi Festival program abroad and building effective partnerships with ancient cultural institutions such as the Seoul Museum of Art, in a way that enhances human encounter and dialogue of cultures.

For his part, His Excellency Abdullah Saif Al Nuaimi said that organizing the “Trifoods and Visions” exhibition in the Korean capital, Seoul, reflects the depth and strength of the cultural ties that bring together the two countries, noting that the exhibition provides an integrated account of the development of visual arts in the UAE over five decades, by combining the works of the early pioneers and the creativity of contemporary artists.

For her part, Her Excellency Hoda Ibrahim Al-Khamis said that the “Trivories and Visions” exhibition sheds light, through photography, video, drawing, sculpture, performance and artistic installation, on the impact of the convergence of advanced creative thought, cultural dialogue and communication of civilizations, and enhances the presence of Emirati artists on the global scene, and contributes to the exchange of knowledge and building bridges of cultural dialogue.

She added that the exhibition presents the experiences of three generations of Emirati artists, who grew up in the midst of the rapid transformations witnessed by the country, and contributed to its cultural and cognitive renaissance, preserving the authenticity of their visions and balancing between the traditional and the modern, between an ancient heritage and an advanced future.

For his part, His Excellency Kim Tae-gyun said that the opening of the exhibition embodies the depth of the friendship and cultural cooperation between Abu Dhabi and Seoul, and highlights the ability of art, as a common human language, to overcome differences in cultural backgrounds and bridge distances between societies.

For her part, Choi Eunjoo said that the exhibition is the most comprehensive display of contemporary Emirati art organized in Korea to date, and provides an important platform to overcome geographical and cultural barriers, and reflect on the sustainable value of artistic convergence.

The “Trivories and Visions” exhibition continues its activities at the Seoul Museum of Art until next March 29, and includes more than 110 artworks by 47 artists, including 33 Emirati artists representing three generations. It comes within a three-year institutional partnership between the Abu Dhabi Culture and Arts Group and the Seoul Museum of Art, which includes joint exhibitions, commissioning artworks, artistic residencies, and dialogue programs, in a way that enhances artistic dialogue and cultural communication between the UAE and the Republic of Korea.
