Shamma bint Sultan bin Khalifa announces the transformation of the “United Arab Emirates Independent Accelerators for Climate Change” into "Frontier25 "

Abu Dhabi, 31 October / WAM / Sheikha Shamma bint Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, President and CEO of Frontier25 and The Climate Tribe, announced the strategic transformation of the “United Arab Emirates Independent Accelerators for Climate Change” – a non-profit organization established in Abu Dhabi in 2022 – to “Frontier25”, a climate action consultancy, in a move that represents… A natural development in the organization’s journey towards accelerating climate action and promoting sustainability solutions with a more focused and urgent vision to achieve tangible impact.
This came during the “From Ideas to Impact” forum, which attracted more than 250 representatives of government agencies, business leaders, experts and specialists in the green economy in Abu Dhabi, in a platform that brought together minds and decision makers to exchange experiences, build partnerships, and explore ways to transform climate ambitions into practical, measurable steps.
Sheikha Shamma bint Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan stressed that this transformation embodies the organization’s transition from the stage of dialogues to implementation, noting that Frontier 25 represents a natural development in its path as an accelerator of innovation and an effective influencer in climate action, as it continues what the “Emirates Independent Accelerators for Climate Change” began within a more flexible institutional framework and a clearer vision that responds to the scale of the increasing climate challenges.
The name “Frontier 25” symbolizes crossing a turning point between crisis and change, and the number 25 refers to the decisive moment in which the world stands on the cusp of transitioning from challenge to solution.

In 2024, global temperatures exceeded the level of 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial revolution levels for the first time, making the year 2025 a pivotal turning point that requires urgent action to maintain the path of climate neutrality for the UAE and the world by 2050.
Sheikha Shamma bint Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan added: “Our vision has not changed, but rather it has become clearer and deeper. With temperatures continuing to rise around the world and doubling their pace in our region compared to the global average, it has become necessary for us to move with urgency and renewed responsibility. We need a more focused mission for our organization – a mission that builds on the alliances we have established and the ideas we have embraced, to accelerate its pace to keep pace with the scale of the climate challenge we face.” “Today.”
Over the course of three years, the “UAE Independent Accelerators for Climate Change” worked to build strategic partnerships, enhance cooperation, and provide qualitative initiatives. It issued more than 20 reports and analytical studies, organized more than 20 political dialogues and forums, made more than 25 recommendations supporting the path to climate neutrality, and contributed to accelerating the growth of more than 80 startup companies in the field of climate technologies, as well as expanding the membership of the “UAE Carbon Alliance” to include more than 65. Entity and institution.
Based on this solid base, Frontier25 continues its journey of enabling its partners to move to practical implementation, while maintaining its independence, non-profit nature, and focus on achieving measurable impact.

The organization will advance the green economy through three main strategic pillars, including evidence-based consulting, market and project acceleration, and strategic alliances.
Through its advisory services, Frontier25 provides solutions based on rigorous research, analysis and “policy dialogues” to develop practical recommendations and strategies that can be immediately implemented.

Its programs, such as “launchpads” and “investment and industry rounds,” continue to support startups in the climate fields, to help them enter markets, attract funding, and expand.

As for strategic alliances, they aim to align the efforts of governments, investors, institutions and emerging companies to confront the most pressing climate challenges.
The forum witnessed the unveiling of five main axes that represent Frontier 25’s climate action priorities, based on the results of its 25 to 2050 report issued last February, which addressed 25 pivotal measures to accelerate progress towards achieving the goals of the UAE’s strategy for climate neutrality by 2050.

The round table sessions witnessed in-depth discussions with the participation of a group of experts and decision makers, with the detailed results being published in a comprehensive report early next November.
Although the Middle East and North Africa region needs about $500 billion in climate investments, its share of global financing does not exceed 6.6%, and with the commitment of UAE banks to provide one trillion UAE dirhams in sustainable financing by 2030, and the growth of innovative financing tools such as blended financing, carbon markets, and green classifications, “Frontier25” will work to bridge the gaps and accelerate access to climate financing.
Climate culture is an essential pillar for achieving the UAE’s goals for climate neutrality by 2050, and although literacy rates in the country exceed 90%, climate awareness is still uneven in the region.

From this standpoint, Frontier25 explores the possibilities of harnessing communication, storytelling and technology to enhance public awareness and establish climate culture as a sustainable way of life.
The built environment contributes about 37% of global energy-related carbon dioxide emissions. Recognizing the impact of this vital sector, the UAE aims to reduce building emissions by 85% by 2030, within the “third nationally determined contribution.” Frontier 25 will work to stimulate cooperation between sectors and adopt innovative policies and technologies to achieve a sustainable built environment.
Frontier25 is cooperating with its partners to enhance dialogue and exchange of experiences in order to develop a unified national approach to decarbonizing the maritime sector, and to consolidate the UAE’s position as a regional leader in the field of sustainable shipping.

The initiative aims to build unified regulatory and operational frameworks to accelerate the removal of emissions and enhance environmental competitiveness in the sector.
The aviation sector contributes about 18% of the UAE’s gross domestic product and provides one out of every ten jobs in the country, making it one of the main engines of the national economy. Hence, Frontier25 will lead cooperation efforts to build partnerships and alliances that contribute to accelerating the removal of carbon from this sector and enhancing its role in supporting the green economy and achieving climate neutrality.
