South Korea’s exports rose 3.6% in October

SEOUL, 1st November (WAM) – Government data showed on Saturday that South Korean exports grew by 3.6% year-on-year in October, recording an increase for the fifth month in a row, despite the effects of US tariffs, thanks to strong demand for semiconductors.

South Korea’s Yonhap News Agency reported that the value of exported shipments recorded 59.57 billion US dollars last month, according to data compiled by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources.

Imports fell by 1.5% year-on-year to US$53.52 billion, resulting in a trade surplus of US$6.06 billion.

Semiconductor exports jumped 25.4% year-on-year to $15.73 billion, but exports to the United States fell 16.2% year-on-year to $8.71 billion due to the effects of tariffs.
