Zamalek dismisses Ferreira before the Egyptian Super Cup in the Emirates

Egyptian media confirmed that the management of the Egyptian Zamalek Club is now leaning toward the option of using national expertise to lead the “White Team,” in light of the serious consideration of ending the career of Belgian coach Yannick Ferreira.

“Youm 7” newspaper quoted sources as saying that these decisive deliberations came after a disappointing decline in results recently, the last of which was a costly draw that kept the team in fourth place in the Egyptian Premier League table, which raised wide question marks among the supporters of the ancient club.

The same sources confirmed that the thinking is focused on choosing an “Egyptian captain” to lead the technical helm of Zamalek, especially in the upcoming continental competition. It is the Egyptian Super Cup, scheduled to be held in the Emirati capital, Abu Dhabi, from November 6 to 9, with the participation of Al-Ahly, Pyramids, and Ceramica Cleopatra.

In a proactive step to resolve Ferreira’s fate, intense communications took place between the club’s leaders and Sports Director John Edward, following the disappointing 1-1 draw against the National Bank on Thursday.

A decisive session is scheduled to be held in the coming hours to make the final decision regarding the Belgian coach, whose future hangs on a thin thread.
