The UAE welcomes the UN Security Council’s resolution supporting Morocco’s initiative for autonomy in the Moroccan Sahara
Abu Dhabi, 1st November / WAM / The UAE welcomed the resolution issued by the UN Security Council No. 2797, which calls for engaging in negotiations on the basis of the Moroccan autonomy initiative, as an important step towards reaching a final and sustainable political solution to this issue, in accordance with the principles and objectives of the United Nations Charter and the relevant Security Council resolutions.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs praised the diplomatic efforts made by the United States in drafting and presenting this resolution, which reflects the importance of settling disputes through negotiations and peaceful means.
The UAE also affirmed its firm position in its solidarity and full support for the Kingdom of Morocco and its legitimate rights in the Moroccan Sahara, and everything that preserves the security, stability, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Kingdom, and contributes to promoting peace, stability and sustainable prosperity in the region.
