3 colorful medals for the UAE champions on the first day of the World Jiu-Jitsu Championship in Thailand

BANGKOK, 2nd November, 2017 (WAM) – The UAE delegation achieved a distinguished achievement today at the start of the first day’s competitions of the World Jiu-Jitsu Championship currently being held in the Thai capital, Bangkok, as the UAE champions won three colorful medals against the strongest ranked world champions.
The champion, Asma Al Hosani, succeeded in grabbing the gold medal in the 52 kg weight, after a brilliant performance and a strong desire to win, to dedicate this achievement to the UAE. The champion, Aisha Al Shamsi, also won the silver medal in the 45 kg weight, in a tournament that included a strong elite of world champions, while the champion, Balqis Abdul Karim, also won the bronze medal in the 45 kg weight, to enhance the presence of Emirati girls. In the global competition arena.
The championship competitions will be held in the Huamark Stadium hall in the capital, Bangkok, with wide participation from various countries of the world in the categories of men and women, boys and girls under 21 and 18 years old, and boys and girls under 14 and 16 years old. Panagiotos Theodoroupolis, President of the International Jiu-Jitsu Federation, attended the competitions and participated in crowning the winners, His Excellency Mohammed Salem Al Dhaheri, Vice President of the Emirates Jiu-Jitsu Federation, Joachim Thumfaert, Director General of the International Federation, Mubarak Saleh Al-Menhali, Director of the Technical Department of the Emirates Jiu-Jitsu Federation, Abdullah Al Zaabi, Director of the Communications and Marketing Department, and world champion Faisal Al Ketbi, Head of the National Teams Department of the Emirates Jiu-Jitsu Federation.
His Excellency Mohammed Salem Al Dhaheri expressed his pride in the achievement of the Emirati girls on the first day, saying that these three medals will be the first reward for our male and female players, and will be a great motivation for them during the tournament.
He stressed that the sustainability of the achievements of jiu-jitsu in the Emirates is nothing but an authentic reflection of the support of the wise leadership, the follow-up of His Excellency Abdul Moneim Al Hashemi, President of the Emirati and Asian Federations, First Vice President of the International Federation, and the support of families and families as a basic nucleus, as well as the sponsors of success partners.
For his part, Mubarak Saleh Al Menhali stated that the tournament presents a high technical level, and praised the strong performance of the UAE girls, expressing his satisfaction with the performance in light of the fierce competition with the world’s top rankings.
He expressed his great optimism about achieving more medals in the coming days, especially since the World Championship is a true indicator of the level of development of male and female players in various categories.
Asma Al Hosani expressed her happiness with the gold medal she achieved, stressing that this achievement is a historic moment for her in a major global event, for which she has been preparing for many months.
She added: The final fight with the Ukrainian champion was the strongest for me in all the matches of the tournament, especially since the regular time ended in a draw, and golden decisive points were used, which lasted nearly four minutes of focus, persistence and determination.
Aisha Al Shamsi, the silver medalist, said: I am very happy with this achievement, and I have gained great international experience from participating in this tournament. This day is important in my career and I am motivated to do more in the coming days.
Balqis Abdel Karim, the bronze medalist, said: I was hoping to win gold, but jiu-jitsu is a sport of seconds and concentration, and I benefited a lot from participating in this great tournament, and I will work to develop my performance in the near future.
It is noteworthy that the Emirati girls will participate tomorrow in the 63 and 70 kg competitions, while the men’s competitions will begin with the 56 kg bouts in which the Emirati champion Omar Al Suwaidi will participate, in a scene that the Emirati sports fans are looking forward to with great confidence and optimism.
