المملكة: The Council of Civil Associations confirms the strength of governance in the non-profit sector

Confirmed Council of Civil Associations that Enhancing the quality of life and community service.
The Council explained in a statement that it followed the theses that were circulated in some media outlets and social media platforms that dealt with the work of civil society associations and the level of trust and governance associated with them, stressing that some of the doubts or generalizations that were raised do not reflect the institutional and regulatory reality within which civil society organizations operate in the Kingdom.
He stated that civil societies operate according to an integrated regulatory, legislative and supervisory system that begins from a stage Establishment and licensing, and extends to financial disclosure, oversight, compliance and periodic follow-up, under the supervision of the competent government agencies, in a way that ensures enhancing transparency and raising the efficiency of institutional performance.
The Council indicated that private associations and institutions are subject to the provisions of the National Associations and Institutions System issued by Royal Decree No. (M/8) dated 2/19/1437 AH, and Cabinet Resolution No. (61) dated 2/18/1437 AH, in addition to the supervision of the National Center for Non-Sector Development. With regard to fundraising work, the Council confirmed that it is subject to a precise regulatory and legislative system in accordance with the provisions of the fundraising system issued by Royal Decree No. (M/43) dated 2/8/1446 AH and its executive regulations, in a way that enhances levels of transparency and compliance, protects donors, and ensures that donations reach those who deserve them through regular channels. He pointed out that the non-profit sector has achieved rapid growth in recent years thanks to the support of the wise leadership, as its contribution exceeded 70 billion riyals to the gross domestic product, in a clear reflection of the amount of institutional confidence enjoyed by the sector and its growing role in national development.
The Council appreciated the continuous support that civil work receives from the wise leadership, and the praise issued by the Council of Ministers on more than one occasion for the efforts of the non-profit sector and its developmental and societal contributions, stressing Its position as a major partner in achieving the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
Promoting societal values
The Council also expressed its appreciation for what was confirmed by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister – may God protect him – regarding the developmental role of civil society organizations and their impact in serving the community and promoting societal values, in a way that reflects the status of the sector and its national role.
The Council stressed that maintaining the confidence of society, donors and donors in the sector Non-profits are a shared national responsibility that requires supporting regulatory, supervisory and awareness efforts, and enhancing awareness of the importance of donating through licensed official channels, which contributes to protecting civil society work and maximizing its developmental and societal impact.
He stressed the importance of obtaining information from its official sources and not being led by general impressions or generalizations that may affect the mental image of the non-profit sector or reduce the great efforts made by civil society organizations and their employees to serve society and the nation.

The Council affirmed its legal right to take the necessary legal measures against any violations, allegations or practices that would harm the reputation of civil society organizations or cast doubt on their integrity and institutional credibility, in accordance with the regulations and instructions in force in the Kingdom.
At the end of the statement, the Council of Civil Society Associations extended its sincere thanks and appreciation to the wise leadership for the support and interest it gives to the non-profit sector, expressing its appreciation to the workers, volunteers and members of civil society organizations for their Their national, developmental and humanitarian efforts, asking God to preserve the Kingdom’s security, stability and prosperity.
