In this context, Fatima Hassan Al-Rumaihi, Director of the Festival and CEO of the Doha Film Institute, said: “The opening of our festival with the film “The Voice of Hind Rajab” It is a tribute to the truth, which is fragile, painful and urgent. Hind’s voice, trembling but steadfast, speaks to each one of us. It is the story of all the children, women and men of Palestine whose lives were shattered by the violent and terrible aggression of the Israeli occupation, and whose resilience continues to inspire the conscience of the world. This poignant film highlights the unique role of cinema in raising voices that deserve to be heard, which reflects the extent of the pain felt by the Palestinian people and at the same time shows the courage they display, and the efforts of the unknown heroes who tried to save an innocent girl. By honoring the memory of Hind, and the memory of countless other victims, we hope to reawaken the values of compassion and solidarity in the world, advance efforts to achieve justice, and remind everyone that any story, no matter how painful and cruel, should not be left untold. On screen, they are immediate testimonies of truth and courage, and the voices of a people who refuse to be complacent. These are works that carry with them the memories, pain, and renewed hopes of the Palestinians. They refuse to be erased, and they demand that the whole world recognize them. By supporting these works, we honor the resilience of their creators, and we stand with Palestine, ensuring that these stories are seen, heard, and remembered. At the Doha Film Festival, we are honored to provide the platform that allows these voices to resonate around the world and inspire change.”
