The American court is considering the legality of Trump’s customs duties.. Will it stop them?

Look The US Supreme Court, the majority of whose members are conservatives, will next Wednesday consider the legality of some Customs duties imposed by the President Donald Trump after his return to power, and it is considered the pillars of his economic policy and a major means of putting pressure on the rest of the countries of the world.
Trump announced a series of new customs duties on goods imported into the United States, with the aim of strengthening industry in his country and reducing the American trade deficit.
These duties range between 10 and 50%, depending on circumstances and countries.
The Supreme Court will consider these duties, which differ from those targeting specific sectors (such as cars or steel).
/>Democratic companies and states question the legality of Trump’s measures imposed without returning to Congress.
National Emergency
The Republican president relied on the Economic Emergency Act issued in 1977 to impose many of these duties, saying that the US trade deficit constitutes a national emergency even though it is chronic and the country has been suffering for decades.
Several federal courts have ruled that the tariffs are illegal, but despite this they remain in effect pending a final ruling from the Supreme Court.
The government indicated that the issuance of a decision against the imposition of fees by the nine judges of the Supreme Court, who are 6 conservatives and 3 liberals, will deprive the American administration of a major means of pressure in its trade negotiations, and will impoverish the United States.
The government’s legal advisor, John Sawer, said that "For the president, the choice is fraught with consequences: with tariffs, we are a rich country, without them, we are a poor country."
If these fees are rescinded, the Trump administration may be forced to return tens of billions of dollars it has collected.
