المملكة: “Forest Ambassadors”: training 100 specialists in the field of agriculture and management of 2.7 million hectares


The National Center for Vegetation Development launched And combating desertification, in cooperation with King Khalid University and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the joint intensive training program “Forest Ambassadors”, in a strategic step aimed at building national capacities specialized in forest technologies to achieve sustainable management of them.

Qualifying specialists in agricultural fields

The program aims to qualify 100 specialists in Environmental sustainability of forest systems in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The program, directed to students of the Forestry Technology Diploma, extends over a period of two years and includes three gradual stages, to bring the trainees to the level of “expert forest ambassador,” which contributes to creating a role model for sustainable forest management.

Supporting youth leadership

The “Forest Ambassadors” program is one of the outcomes of the twenty-seventh session of the Forest and Rangeland Authority in the East. The lowest, which was hosted by the Kingdom at the end of last September.
This session emphasized the importance of supporting youth leadership, as the program aims to empower them and provide them with the knowledge, skills, and modern technologies necessary for innovation and digital transformation in this vital field.

It is noteworthy that the forests in the Kingdom extend over an area estimated at about 2.7 million hectares, varying between mountainous and coastal “mangrove” forests, valleys, and urban areas. The National Center for Vegetation Development supervises its development, protection, and rehabilitation of those affected by it, given the value this environmental wealth represents and its direct impact on protecting nature and promoting environmental sustainability.
