“Al-Youm” monitored the activities of the Postgraduate Students Forum “Researchers 7” held Artsand Humanities, Dr. Marwan Shuaib, said that the forum aims to enable graduate students to publish their scientific research derived from their master’s and doctoral theses, in a way that contributes to supporting their academic career and facilitating their graduation procedures.College of Arts, noting that the forum enjoyed a distinguished presence from representatives of a number of scientific bodies, including the King Abdulaziz Foundation, the Red Sea Research Center, and the Geological Survey.
He stressed that the forum has become an annual scientific event that is receiving increasing interest from local and international researchers, whether in the field of scientific papers or research posters, which reflects its success and continuity in supporting the culture of scientific research.
Platform Research
While Atef Al-Otaibi, a doctoral student in the Department of Psychology at the College of Arts and Human Sciences, spoke, saying that the “Researchers Forum” has become an important research platform for graduate students. He also pointed out that the Department of Psychology has achieved outstanding scientific achievements at the local and international levels.
He added: “A number of the department’s students won prestigious awards, including the Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Excellence in Educational Research, which was won by Professor Bashayer Al-Qarni, Malak Al-Zahrani, and Joanna Al-Juhani, in addition to awards in scientific competitions at the university and College of Arts levels.”
Independent Unit
Al-Otaibi stated that the Psychology Department offers various programs at the master’s and doctoral levels, including specializations such as Counseling and criminal psychology, giftedness and creativity, in addition to doctoral specializations in crisis, family and marriage psychology. The department also includes four psychological laboratories: the Psychometrics Laboratory, the Experimental Psychology Laboratory, the Psychological Counseling Laboratory, and the Psychological Research and Studies Laboratory, as well as an independent unit concerned with providing psychological services and consultations to the university community.
In another aspect of the forum’s activities, student Houria Hamid al-Din, a doctoral researcher in the Department of Information Science, presented her scientific poster that addressed the extent of awareness of female library employees at King Abdulaziz University about big data, as her study revealed the levels of Varying awareness of emerging data technologies, highlighting the importance of adopting these technologies in developing library and research services within the university.
The forum activities concluded by honoring the male and female winners in the scientific research and poster categories, amid praise from the participants for the distinguished scientific interaction achieved by “Researchers 7” that contributes to strengthening the position of King Abdulaziz University as a leading center in supporting scientific research and graduate studies in the Kingdom.
