The UAE International Poster Festival consolidates the art of human communication

Dubai, 4 November / WAM / His Excellency Mohammed Ahmed Al Murr, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Library Foundation, yesterday opened the activities of the Seventh UAE International Poster Festival, which is organized by the Culture and Science Symposium in Dubai in partnership with the International Poster Authority, and continues until November 15 at the symposium headquarters.
The opening was attended by Bilal Al-Badour, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the symposium, Ali Obaid Al-Hamli, Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors, and a number of intellectuals and designers. The festival coincides with the country’s celebration of the Year of Society, as it transforms visual art into a dialogue space that contributes to enhancing cultural and social interaction, and embodies the ability of the poster to remain an influential communication tool despite the dominance of digital media. His Excellency Mohammed Al-Murr stressed that the festival represents an inspiring platform for generations of designers to innovate new ways to express their societal issues, praising the role of the Culture and Science Symposium in consolidating the culture of design at the local and global levels. For his part, Bilal Al-Badour explained that the festival embodies the slogan “Year of Community,” and makes the poster a means of human rapprochement and building bridges between cultures, stressing that the broad international participation reflects Dubai’s status as a center for visual creativity. The current session witnessed distinguished participation of students, who constituted about 30% of the total participation, in addition to the participation of 50 designers from within the country, who presented works inspired by the values of society, the environment, and human relations. The festival honored the international Italian designer Armando Milani, guest of honor, who is famous for his humanitarian and environmental works, including the United Nations “War Peace” poster, while the seventh session displays about 500 works from 60 countries that embody various artistic visions of the general concept of society. The festival confirms the UAE’s position as a global bridge for cultural dialogue and an open laboratory for visual creativity that employs design to serve humanity and society.
