during "ADIPEC 2025".. “Al Masaood Energy” announces a project to refine spent tires and convert them into crude oil

ABU DHABI, 4th November, 2020 (WAM) – Al Masaood Energy Company is participating in the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference, ADIPEC 2025, showcasing its latest innovative solutions and services in the energy sector, with a focus on enhancing operational efficiency and supporting the transition towards clean and sustainable energy, in line with the UAE’s goals to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.

Ibrahim Al-Hashidi, Regional Director of the Renewable Energy Sector at Al Masaood Energy, confirmed that the company’s participation in the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC) represents a platform to announce one of its most prominent qualitative projects in the region, which is a project to re-refine spent tires and convert them into exportable crude oil.

He pointed out that the project is the first of its kind in the Arabian Gulf region, and aims to convert spent tires into recycled crude oil, which is classified in the European Union as a product that is allowed to enter the Union’s markets without imposing any local taxes, which makes it a desirable and highly economically viable product.

He explained that the factory’s production was completely sold before its construction was completed, which reflects the high confidence in the project and in the capabilities of Emirati talent working in the solar and renewable energy sectors.

He stressed that this project comes within the framework of the company’s commitment to supporting the concept of the “circular economy,” as Al Masaood seeks, through the project, to contribute to treating waste resulting from spent tires, which is considered one of the most difficult wastes to deal with.

He added that the project provides a sustainable solution that reintegrates spent materials into a new production cycle, similar to what was previously achieved in the field of recycling plastic materials, making the UAE the first country in the Gulf region to apply this technology on an integrated industrial level.
