The Arab League participates in following up on the 2025 Iraqi Parliament elections

In response to the invitation received by Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, from the Independent High Electoral Commission in the Republic of Iraq, regarding the participation of the League of Arab States in monitoring the elections for the Iraqi House of Representatives scheduled to be held on the 11th of this month, and in light of the interest that the Arab League attaches to keeping up with the electoral elections taking place in its member states, and based on its keenness to support and strengthen the process of democracy and consolidate good governance.

And to ensure the smooth conduct of the electoral processes therein, the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States directed the dispatch of A mission from the League of Arab States headed by Ambassador Dr. Faed Mustafa – The Assistant Secretary-General and the membership of a number of General Secretariat employees belonging to 5 Arab nationalities, in order to monitor this important electoral entitlement.

The objectives of the mission are to evaluate various aspects of the electoral process in a neutral and impartial manner, including the electoral campaigns of the candidates, the ballot, and the counting and counting of votes, and to ensure their conformity with the laws and regulations followed in the country as well as international standards. The mission will issue its preliminary statement after completing the monitoring process, and will issue its final report, which will be submitted to His Excellency the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, which will include its detailed observations on the mission and recommendations related to that, provided that it is sent to the relevant authorities in the Republic of Iraq.

In this context, the Arab League mission expresses its aspiration that this electoral process will take place in the best conditions and that its results will reflect the will of the Iraqi people to choose their representatives according to their free will, and that This is to enhance the security, stability and national unity of Iraq, in order to achieve the aspirations of the Iraqi people for development and prosperity.
