Lebanon cancels bail and releases Hannibal Gaddafi

The National Unity Government in the Libyan capital, Tripoli, announced today Thursday that the Lebanese authorities have released Hannibal Muammar Gaddafi, son of the late Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, with the cancellation of the financial bail that was previously imposed on him.

 

The announcement came in an official statement in which the National Unity Government expressed its "deep appreciation" Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri for their cooperation in resolving the issue.

The statement stressed that the decision comes as a result of “continuous Libyan diplomatic efforts and legal and humanitarian treatment,” stressing the depth of relations between the two countries. The government also welcomed “the Lebanese response that led to the decision to release the subject and cancel the imposed bail.”

For his part, Al-Saadi Gaddafi, Hannibal’s brother, announced the news of the release via the “X” platform, thanking the Lebanese government and the head of the National Unity Government, Abdul Hamid Al-Dabaiba, in addition to other Libyan officials who contributed to the file
