70 experts and speakers from 22 countries at the International Translation Forum in Riyadh

Launched The Literary, Publication and Translation Authority and Translation Today, Thursday, the activities of the fifth edition of International Translation Forum 2025 at the King Fahd Cultural Center in Riyadh, with the participation of more than 70 experts and speakers from 22 countries, representing more than 30 local and international bodies, during the period from November 6 to 8, under the slogan "From Saudi Arabia…we translate the future"
The CEO of the Authority, Dr. Abdul Latif bin Abdulaziz Al-Wasel that The Forum constitutes an open space for dialogue and the convergence of cultures, and contributes to building new visions for the future of translation as a bridge for common understanding between peoples.
He explained that the Authority seeks through this edition to make the Forum a global platform that brings together translators and those interested in developing the translation environment and enhancing its impact in creating content and knowledge.
The Forum comes to confirm the Kingdom’s position as an influential cultural center in supporting the translation industry and enhancing knowledge and cultural communication among peoples, including It is consistent with the objectives of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 in consolidating the Kingdom’s global cultural presence.

Dialogue sessions and training workshops

The forum offers a rich program that combines theory and practice through 7 main tracks that include dialogue sessions and training workshops specialized in translation techniques and applications of artificial intelligence, and research discussion sessions organized by the Arab Observatory for Translation.

In addition to interactive tracks such as "Meet the experts" and"Translation stories" and"Experience interactive technology"and contributions from student clubs that review translation students’ projects in Saudi universities.
Within the framework of the forum’s work, a session entitled "Between Expo and World Cup: Prospects of the sports and tourism translation industry" Shedding light on the reality of specialized translation in the sports and tourism sectors, and its role in highlighting cultural identity and enhancing international communication.
Participated in the session was Dr. Ahmed Al-Omair from the Ministry of Education, and Dr. Ahmed Al-Qahtani from Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University, and Dr. Muhammad Al Muammar from King Saud University, and Abdullah Al-Mudaimigh, the specialized translator, and the dialogue was moderated by Dr. Abdullah Al-Araj from the College of Technology in Makkah Al-Mukarramah.

A civilized interface for the Kingdom

The participants stressed that translators in the sports and tourism fields represent a civilized interface for the Kingdom, as their role is not limited to conveying words, but extends to being cultural mediators who contribute to building bridges of understanding between peoples.
They stressed the importance of specialized qualification and precise knowledge of sports and cultural terminology, stressing that sports and tourism translation is an essential pillar. In enhancing the Kingdom’s global presence, and conveying an honorable image that reflects the authenticity of Saudi hospitality and its tourism components.

Simultaneous interpretation at conferences

Another session entitled "Simultaneous interpretation in conferences: operational structure and technology system" The technical transformation witnessed by the simultaneous translation sector, and the impact of artificial intelligence in developing the international conference experience.
The session was moderated by Dr. Kayed Al-Sultan from Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University, with the participation of Dieter Ring from BOOSTLINGO, a company specializing in technical translation solutions, and Dr. Shuaa Al-Omari from King Saud University, and Dr. Jean-Christophe Binet from the ITI Institute.
The participants explained that simultaneous translation has become an integrated operational system that combines human competence and digital technologies, extending from the audio-visual infrastructure to smart platforms for instant broadcast, stressing that the future depends on the integration between the human element and smart technologies in managing sound and text and real-time synchronization.

They also stressed the necessity of setting operational standards that guarantee the quality of translation in major events, and raising the efficiency of translators in dealing with cloud systems and technical skills.

Foreseeing the future of translation

The International Translation Forum 2025 is a global platform for exchanging experiences and anticipating the future of translation, and affirming the authority’s commitment to developing the sector, empowering translators, and enhancing the presence of the Arabic language in the global cultural scene, as a tool for cultural communication and an essential component in achieving the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
