Dubai Electricity urges customers to prepare for the rainy period with preventive measures

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority urged customers to take the necessary preventive measures to ensure the continuity of electrical current and avoid internal malfunctions during the rainy period, stressing that adherence to the instructions contributes to avoiding malfunctions resulting from water leakage into extensions or electrical panels.

This awareness campaign comes as part of the Authority’s efforts to establish the highest standards of efficiency and reliability in its services, and to enhance customer safety and their preparedness for various weather fluctuations.

The authority stressed the importance of hiring a certified electrician to conduct regular maintenance and preventive checks, and to ensure that all external connections and meter panels are waterproof and safely insulated, to limit interruptions or electrical short circuits.

The recommendations announced by the authority include: closing distribution panels tightly, replacing broken glass in meters, blocking openings in electrical connection pipes on roofs to prevent water leakage, and regularly checking grounding cables to ensure the safe and continuous flow of electrical current.

Dubai Electricity also called on customers to take advantage of the “Smart Response” service through the Authority’s smart application or website to diagnose the cause of the outage. If the cause is internal, the customer must contact the maintenance team in the building or one of the approved technicians to repair the malfunction. However, if it turns out that the malfunction is external and related to the Authority, the customer must contact the emergency number 991, and a technical team will be sent to repair the malfunction according to the highest levels of efficiency and speed.

The Authority urged all customers to follow its official accounts on social media to learn about the instructions for the rainy period, which include a set of tips and preventive measures to maintain the stability of the electrical current and avoid internal malfunctions.

Dubai Electricity launched the fourth installment of the “Laha – Authority Ambassadors” program, which it organizes in cooperation with Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University, under the title “Women Create Tomorrow: A Vision That Goes Beyond the Present.”

Over the course of nine months, 25 of the Authority’s female employees participate in a series of interactive workshops and specialized training courses presented by an elite group of experts and academics at Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University, focusing on multiple axes, most notably transformational leadership, effective communication, change management, emotional intelligence in the work environment, and institutional innovation.

Dubai Electricity also announced its sponsorship of the “Empowering Minds” initiative launched by the Dubai Club for People of Determination with the aim of qualifying and empowering club members from various categories of disabilities through specialized training and rehabilitation programs in digital and technical skills. The “Empowering Minds” initiative includes the establishment of a smart computer room equipped with the latest computer technologies and artificial intelligence inside the club’s headquarters to provide beneficiaries with the knowledge and capabilities that will enable them to integrate effectively into society and the digital labor market.
