With the exception of one category… Trump intends to pay $2,000 to every American

US President Donald Trump said on Sunday, in a post on his “Truth Social” platform, that the US government will pay most citizens a “cash sum” of no less than $2,000 each.

In his post, Trump indicated that only high-income citizens would be excluded, without specifying income levels or a timetable for that.

Trump’s post comes about a week after Democrats made gains across the country in several local and state elections, notably winning governorships in New Jersey and Virginia, and wresting control of seats from Republicans on the Public Service Commission in Georgia, a heavily pro-Republican state.

After the elections, criticism emerged within the ranks of Trump’s own supporters indicating that he did not pay enough attention to his core electoral base, to whom he promised during his election campaign to reduce the costs of living.

President Trump had publicly raised the idea of disbursing cash to American citizens several months ago, but he did not follow up on the matter at the time.
