The US Secretary of Transportation warns of the effects of the government closure on air traffic

US authorities warned that the pace of air travel at The United States may soon slow down dramatically, with thousands of flights canceled or delayed, and travelers facing chaos due to Government closure.

He said US Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy told Fox News on Sunday: As the Thanksgiving holiday approaches, which begins in two weeks, the pace of air travel will slow significantly, while everyone wants to travel to see their families.

He pointed out that "A very small number of air traffic controllers will go to work, which means fewer flights landing and taking off, and he stressed that they will face great turmoil and many angry Americans.

In a statement to CNN, Duffy said that things will get worse as people seek to travel to meet their families during the holiday.

He pointed out that many people will not be able to travel, because there will not be many flights if the closure does not end.

Reducing the number of flights 40 airports

The administration of US President Donald Trump ordered airlines to reduce the number of flights at 40 airports to relieve pressure on air traffic controllers who are working without pay due to federal paralysis that has been ongoing for 6 weeks.

The government shutdown, which began on October 1, led to the suspension of the salaries of tens of thousands of air traffic controllers, airport security employees and others.

Federal agencies throughout the United States have stopped working since Congress failed to approve funding after September 30.
About 1.4 million federal employees, from air traffic controllers to national park rangers, are on administrative leave or working without pay.
