Microsurgery at Dubai Health restores the normal function of a young heart

“Dubai Health” succeeded in restoring hope to the young man Abdul Hadi Ahmed (24 years old), after he underwent a delicate operation to repair the heart-pulmonary valve, which enabled him to restore the normal function of the heart and prevent serious complications that were threatening his life, which helped him return to his daily life and sporting activity, within the “Nabadat” campaign, which is concerned with providing specialized medical care for those with congenital heart defects and chronic heart diseases, which was launched in 2012 in cooperation with the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation. Charity.

The campaign is implemented by Al Jalila Foundation, the giving arm of Dubai Health, which supports patients who are unable to bear the cost of treatment, by providing advanced medical services, including delicate surgical operations and cardiac catheterizations in Dubai Health hospitals.

Abdul Hadi’s journey toward treatment began after he visited a private hospital in Dubai following a minor health ailment. Tests conducted on him later revealed his need to undergo a heart valve repair operation, as doctors recommended surgical intervention to avoid any future complications.

Abdul Hadi Ahmed told Emirates Today that he loves practicing sports, especially football, and is keen to regularly visit the fitness club, explaining that these habits contributed to shaping his daily lifestyle, but he was forced to temporarily stop practicing his sporting activities based on the doctors’ recommendation to avoid excessive effort, in order to preserve his health condition and avoid complications, stressing that he accepted this challenge with the support of his family and friends, who represented a source of strength for him in his medical journey.

In light of his desire to restore his lifestyle, Abdul Hadi decided to take the step, and went with his parents to Al Jalila Foundation, where he applied for the opportunity for free treatment, and his request was accepted and included in the “Nabadat” campaign, to begin a new journey towards recovery in Dubai Hospital.

Consultant and Head of the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Dubai Hospital, Medical Director of the Nabadat Initiative, Dr. Obaid Muhammad Jassim, told Emirates Al-Youm that the medical team succeeded in performing a pulmonary heart valve repair operation for the young man Abdul Hadi Ahmed, explaining that the importance of the operation lies in its ability to restore the normal function of the heart and prevent future complications that threaten the patient’s life, had it not been for timely surgical intervention.

Abdul Hadi recounts the moment he woke up after the operation, saying: “I opened my eyes to the nurse’s voice gently waking me up, and it was only a matter of minutes before the doctor announced to me the success of the surgery. I cannot describe my feeling at that moment, as a feeling of reassurance and tranquility overwhelmed me, and I felt the warmth of the feelings of my family and friends.”

He pointed to the great role played by Al Jalila Foundation and Dubai Hospital, adding that he will work in the coming period to give back to society by volunteering in health and humanitarian initiatives, stressing that his experience reinforced to him the value of solidarity that characterizes the UAE, and the importance of hope in facing health challenges.
